About the Position
Newington College is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Strength & Conditioning Coach, specifically for our rowing program. Working closely with the Director of Rowing and the College’s Athletic Development staff, this role delivers a structured, age-appropriate progressive program that develops power application through complete range of movement specific to the rowing action, while supporting injury prevention. This role plays a key part in shaping the physical development of our student-athletes through periodised seasonal phases in preparation for their racing season. Working as part of a team, you will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated to ensuring the best outcome for Newington College students.
About You
We have deliberately not provided set and narrow selection criteria. However, it would be expected that the successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in strength and conditioning for adolescent athletes, ideally within rowing or endurance sports.
- Proven ability to plan, lead and adapt programs for a range of ages and ability levels (Years 9-12).
- Excellent communication skills, leadership presence, and a commitment to student wellbeing and growth.
- Minimum ASCA Level 2 Accreditation (or equivalent); understanding of youth athletic development is essential.
- Tertiary qualification in Exercise Science, Human Movement, or a related field.
- Understanding and adherence to the College’s Child Safeguarding policies and practices.
- Contributions to the continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding at Newington.
