The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded Football Australia hosting rights for the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™. This marks Australia's second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™.
You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC), which has been established for the sole purpose of delivering the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™ in Australia.
This prestigious event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four. We are eager to create another tournament that celebrates women's football and multicultural Australia and also delivers legacy outcomes for football and Australian society more broadly.

Your Next Big Match
This is an important role in the Project Management Office of the LOC, working to ensure alignment and consistency in planning and delivery of tournament milestones in line with stakeholder expectations. This role is responsible for management of the Tournament Project Plan and Risk Register and regular reporting to internal and external stakeholders. The role will play a key part in the delivery and management of the main operations centre during Tournament Time, ensuring a platform for clear communication channels and the resolution of issues in a timely manner.
Please note that this role is fixed term until 31st March 2026.
- Manage the LOC’s project management software, covering Planning, Risk and Tournament Time Incident Response Systems.
- Compile clear, accurate and innovative reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Manage the Project Plan, working to identify and manage project dependencies and changes in project scope.
- Ensure project management principles are followed and that milestones and tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Work with LOC Program Areas on documentation and operational plans, ensuring all LOC functions and programs are kept informed of dependencies impacting on each of the departments.
- Support the identification, collation and monitoring of risks, ensuring that the Risk Register is up to date and in line with the LOC Risk Management Framework
- Using insight from the Risk Register, support the planning and delivery of Operational Readiness sessions
- Support the set-up and management of the Tournament Time Main Operations Centre, coordinating daily reporting and communication processes.

- Working with children check (paid/employee) or state-based equivalent
- International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
- Out of hours and weekend work as required
