Barker College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified coaches to our Rowing program.
Barker College commenced rowing in 2020 and while in its infancy is focused on building strong foundations and culture for years to come. To help with the growth and best practice development of the program and rowers we are eager to engage experienced and passionate coaches to be part of the team.
A variety of roles and hours are available for the right candidates, including lead and assistant coaches across the program. There is also scope for additional hours at the boat shed, in the gym, bus supervision and planning. Maturity, experience and diversity will be highly valued as we build a dynamic coaching team to drive the program.
- On water training is at North Shore Rowing Club, Lane Cove
- Afternoons between 3.30 and 6.30pm
- Wednesday mornings 5.30am-7am (Senior Rowers)
- Saturday Mornings 7-11am
- Land training is at Barker College in Hornsby 6.30-8.00am or 3.00-4.30pm
- Winter Rowing is offered on Sunday mornings at North Shore Rowing Club as well as morning land training at Hornsby.
As a co-ed program we attend a variety of club and school regattas in Sydney and the Hunter and aim to provide diverse racing opportunities for all rowers.
- On water Sessions are priority- if getting to Hornsby is challenging, it is not essential
- Summer Season runs late September to late March
- Winter Rowing runs Term 3 to season start
- Holiday training and January Camps are also offered to students
- Immediate start available
The successful applicant will have the following personal attributes and experience:
- Engaging and enthusiastic coaching style with strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with different levels of abilities across various age groups
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective training sessions
- Level 1 rowing coaching qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Boat licence
- Two professional references
Barker College is a child safe organisation and all statutory checks and references are required prior to confirmation of employment. A NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a National Police Check will be required.
