About the team - The Sport Intelligence & Analytics team leverages data to enhance athlete performance and deliver a competitive advantage to Australia’s high-performance system. The team delivers data engineering, data analytics, data science and data governance support and leads the administration of the Athlete Management System and AIS Hub digital platform for the Australian high-performance system.
About the role - We are currently seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the Data Engineering team to support key strategic data projects and infrastructure across the AIS and High-Performance network. They will manage the implementation and deployment of cloud-based methods, techniques, and capabilities to generate insights, create value and drive evidence-informed decision making across the AIS & High-Performance (HP) Network in a secure and reliable environment.
About you -
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as computer science, data management, information systems or information technology.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic design for data systems in regulated environments.
- Team Leadership experience in dynamic hard charging environment.
- Great communication skills to drive adoption of the Data Strategy.
- At least 4 years in a strategic data role in a leading-edge development environment.
- Extensive experience in Cloud data implementations and infrastructure (Azure OR AWS).
- Extensive experience using Snowflake Cloud Platform.
- Extensive experience in Python & SQL.
- Experience working with emerging ELT data management and engineering technologies specifically DBT, Dagster and Airbyte.
- Experience working with CI/CD tools specifically Gitlab OR Azure Devops.
- Experience working with Analytics and API based data systems g. Tableau, PowerBI etc.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making.
- Sport experience or background.
- Experience working with Jira and Zendesk.
