Organisation:

Rowing Victoria is a not for profit organisation and is the peak body for the management of Rowing in Victoria and exists to create opportunities for its Members and current and future rowers in Victoria to participate in rowing for life.

This includes establishing the rules for racing in VIC, setting the annual calendar of regattas and events, development programs for athletes and coaches, regatta management and promotion of the sport throughout the state including the management of the High-Performance program.

In 2024, Rowing Victoria had approximately 8,000 individual members actively rowing within our 48 clubs and 50 school members.

General Description:

The primary purpose of the Finance Officer role is to oversee the organisation’s financial and management accounting, reporting and analysis, financial compliance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation and payroll.

The Financial Officer will play a key role in financial stability and performance of the organisation. Additionally, the Finance Officer will assist the Chief Executive Officer in their procurement of and acquittal of grant funding.

The position requires a highly motivated, intelligent candidate with solid financial experience and strong people relationship and organisational skills.

Core Responsibilities

Management of Rowing Victoria financial and commercial position specifically:

  • Cashflow and funds management
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Payroll
  • Budgeting and planning
  • Management reporting including event profitability, ad hoc analysis of operational and commercial changes, Board Reporting and audit.
  • Other duties such as the submission of information to meet national, state and local requirements
  • Improving and maintaining the control environment

Duties:

Financial Management

  • Preparation & dissemination of RV invoices
  • Preparation and submission of BAS and other related indirect tax returns e.g. payroll taxes
  • Cash receipting, payments, funds management and bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining bank relationships
  • Liaison with Clubs and schools re invoice queries
  • Preparation of monthly management reporting, ad hoc financial analyses, and annual statutory reports
  • Follow up of debtors
  • Financial reporting in relation to affiliation fees, entry fees and membership fees
  • General Ledger Management
  • Management of Xero and Rowing Manager systems including access and controls, Updating supporting documentation and websites for changes in regatta fees
  • Manage auditors and Board financials

Other

  • Represent Rowing Victoria at regattas, meetings and other events as required
  • Assist the CEO in various administrative duties as and when required
  • Assist, as part of the Rowing Victoria team where required in the planning and operation of Rowing Victoria regattas.
