About the BNZ Breakers

The BNZ Breakers are a professional basketball team competing in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). We are committed to excellence on and off the court and take pride in fostering a high-performance culture built on integrity, innovation and community connection.

Our fans, members and communities are at the heart of everything we do. As we continue to grow, we’re focused on building stronger relationships with our supporters and creating experiences that make people proud to be part of the Breakers family.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Memberships and Ticketing, the Memberships & Ticketing Growth Manager will play a pivotal role in growing our season membership base, improving renewal and retention, and driving ticket sales across single-game, casual and group ticketing.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for someone who enjoys turning growth strategies into action. You’ll translate campaign priorities into well-executed plans, create compelling member journeys, identify opportunities to convert fans into members, and use data and insights to continuously improve performance.

With our membership and ticketing function being built for the future, you’ll help establish the programs, processes and standards that support sustainable growth. You’ll work across Marketing, Commercial and Ticketing Operations to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively and every interaction strengthens the relationship between the Club and its supporters.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Membership growth and acquisition

  • Lead the delivery of the annual membership growth plan, supporting targets for new members, upgrades and membership revenue.
  • Develop and activate acquisition initiatives, including referral programs, member-get-member campaigns and opportunities through schools, workplaces, basketball clubs and community networks.
  • Help refine membership tiers, benefits and offers using fan insights, market benchmarking and commercial performance.
  • Build and manage CRM pipelines that track prospective members, upgrade opportunities and renewal prospects from initial enquiry through to conversion.

Renewals, retention and loyalty

  • Plan and deliver membership renewal campaigns, including communications, offers, segmentation and targeted outreach.
  • Identify at-risk members using attendance, engagement and ticketing data, and develop proactive retention initiatives.
  • Understand why members stay, downgrade or leave, using surveys, feedback and data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop loyalty initiatives, upgrade pathways and win-back campaigns that improve member retention and lifetime value.

Member experience and engagement

  • Own the member journey from sign-up through to renewal, including onboarding, communications, benefit delivery and recognition.
  • Create engaging member experiences, events and exclusive opportunities in partnership with the Game Day and Events team.
  • Maintain a clear member benefits framework, ensuring benefits are delivered consistently and refreshed each season.
  • Contribute to the game-day member experience, helping ensure supporters feel welcomed, valued and connected to the Club.

Ticketing growth and conversion

  • Grow single-game and casual ticket sales by attracting new buyers and re-engaging lapsed customers.
  • Develop pathways that convert first-time ticket buyers into repeat purchasers and, ultimately, season members.
  • Build and manage group ticketing initiatives for schools, basketball clubs, community groups and workplaces.
  • Work with internal teams to encourage group bookings, repeat attendance and membership conversion.

Campaign delivery and performance

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of membership and ticketing campaigns, from briefing and planning through to launch, optimisation and post-campaign review.
  • Maintain a season-long campaign calendar aligned with the fixture schedule, Marketing activity and Commercial priorities.
  • Monitor sales, conversion, campaign expenditure and return on investment, making timely adjustments when performance differs from expectations.
  • Develop repeatable processes, templates, reporting dashboards and campaign playbooks that improve efficiency and results over time.

Collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Work closely with Marketing, Commercial, Finance, Ticketing Operations and Game Day teams to deliver joined-up campaigns and experiences.
  • Share sales performance, member insights and campaign learnings to inform future decisions.
  • Use CRM technology, automation and AI tools to work smarter, improve targeting and increase productivity.
  • Represent the Breakers positively at member events and community engagements, helping strengthen our profile and supporter base.

About you

You’re a proactive, commercially minded growth professional who enjoys combining data, creativity and relationship-building to deliver results. You understand that successful membership programs are about more than transactions — they’re about giving people compelling reasons to join, stay and advocate for the brand.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • At least four years’ experience in membership, loyalty, subscriptions, season ticketing, B2C sales, CRM, lifecycle marketing or fan engagement.
  • A proven ability to grow a member or subscriber base and improve renewal and retention outcomes.
  • Experience planning and delivering multi-channel campaigns from brief through to evaluation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and data literacy, with the ability to interpret performance, identify trends and turn insights into action.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, ticketing systems and email or marketing automation tools.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisation and project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, budgets and suppliers.
  • The initiative and adaptability to build new programs, improve existing processes and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in sport, entertainment, events, attractions or another high-profile consumer-facing environment would be advantageous. Experience in an early-stage or transformation environment is also highly valued.

An appreciation of New Zealand’s sporting landscape and our diverse communities, including Maori and Pasifika, would be a strong asset.

Why join the Breakers?

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of membership and ticketing at the BNZ Breakers.

You’ll have the chance to:

  • Make a measurable impact on membership growth, fan engagement and commercial performance.
  • Build and improve programs that shape the supporter experience across the season.
  • Work collaboratively across a professional sporting organisation where passion, performance and community connection matter.
  • Help turn our fans into an even stronger, more connected community.

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, integrity, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for sport. Someone who is comfortable taking ownership, testing new ideas, learning from the results and finding better ways to grow.

A few important details

This is a full-time position based at Breakers HQ on Auckland’s North Shore. Some domestic travel may be required.

The role involves working evenings and weekends, including home game days, in line with the season schedule. A full, clean driver’s licence is required, and the successful candidate must be able to travel to Australia without restriction.

Given the role’s engagement with schools and young people, the successful candidate must be willing to undergo Police vetting. A high standard of personal integrity and professional conduct is essential.
