ABOUT THE CLUB

As the pioneers of Australian Football, the Melbourne Football Club holds a unique and celebrated place in sporting history. For 168 years, we have shaped the game - writing its rules, leading its evolution, and carrying the distinction of being the oldest professional sporting Club in the world.   Casey Demons Football Club is the aligned VFL affiliate of Melbourne Football Club and serves as an integral part of the player development pathway, providing an elite environment for the progression of both Melbourne-listed and VFL listed players.

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a VFLW Operations Coordinator to join our Women’s Football department.  The role is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of the Casey Demons VFL Women’s program, ensuring football operations are coordinated efficiently, professionally and in alignment with Melbourne Football Club standards, governance requirements and TRUE Club values (Trust, Respect, Unity and Excellence).

Working closely with the VFLW coaching and football operations staff, the role will coordinate key operational activities across pre-season and the competition season, supporting training and match-day preparation, player and staff logistics, communication and administrative processes to enable the program to operate effectively and deliver a positive experience for players and staff.

This is a part-time, 12-month position for Season 2027.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting directly to the Women’s Football Operations Manager, key areas of responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the VFLW Program, including internal communication and team management
  • Plan and execute all aspects of the VFLW Program, including training schedule, team travel, match days and off-field activities.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including players, coaches, support staff, and external partners to ensure the smooth running of the VFLW program.
  • Coordinate and manage VFLW game day operations including fixturing preferences, internal communication, liaising with AFL and opposition officials, property and equipment, parking, food delivery, team sheet submission and entering relevant data post-game
  • Coordinate and manage the ordering and distribution of apparel
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the program, including player contracts, medical records, and team schedules.
  • Ensure that all participants are aware of, and comply with, the club's policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Manage the accreditation and PPM process within the AFL/VFL regulations, including compliance of education requirements and PlayHQ registration.
  • Support the VFLW Coach in the development and implementation of performance programs and provide feedback and support to players to help them reach their full potential.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the other VFL clubs, league officials, government agencies, and commercial partners.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We’re seeking an organised and proactive individual with experience in football or sporting operations and a sound understanding of the AFL landscape. A tertiary qualification in Sports Management, Business Administration, Exercise and Sport Science or a related discipline is highly desirable.

You’ll bring strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate logistics, calendars and events while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. Excellent attention to detail, planning, administration and communication skills are essential.

You’ll be reliable, solutions-focused and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, building strong relationships with players, coaches, medical staff and key stakeholders. Above all, you’ll have a genuine passion for women’s football and a desire to contribute to the continued growth and success of the game.

Hours of Work and Seasonal Commitments

The role will average approximately 15 hours per week, with hours varying across pre-season and the competition season in line with program requirements.  The role requires flexibility to accommodate training schedules, weekend matches and other operational requirements of the VFLW program.

  • Pre-season (February-April): Attendance at 2-3 training sessions per week, including evening commitments.
  • In-season (May-September): Attendance at 2 training sessions per week and one VFLW match each weekend.

WHY JOIN THE CLUB

  • Opportunities for ongoing learning, growth and career development.
  • Access to unique AFL and AFLW experiences and Club events.
  • Access to a range of sponsor-related offers and discounts
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family, along with a range of health and wellbeing initiatives, including free flu vaccinations, corporate health insurance discounts, and complimentary healthy snacks and fresh fruit.
