Across Rhodes Recreation Centre and Five Dock Leisure Centre, our recreational gymnastics programs provide welcoming, high-quality experiences for participants of all ages and abilities. From children taking their first steps in gymnastics to adults building strength, coordination and confidence, our classes offer a fun, safe and supportive environment to learn, progress and thrive.
Rhodes Recreation Centre features a modern, fully matted, temperature-controlled gymnastics space with state-of-the-art artistic gymnastics equipment. Five Dock Leisure Centre, located in Sydney’s inner west, welcomes more than 1,400 gymnasts each year and offers established recreational, competitive state and national pathways. Together, the centres provide excellent facilities, experienced teams and opportunities to inspire a lifelong love of gymnastics.
About the role
Our Gymnastics department is currently recruiting for Gymnastic Coach to deliver safe, fun, and engaging gymnastics classes for pre-school and school-age children (typically walking –18 years) and adults, following the club’s curriculum and values. The role focuses on fostering physical development, confidence, and enjoyment in a positive and inclusive environment.
Within the area of responsibility, this role will (not limited to):
- Lead or assist in coaching recreational gymnastics classes
- Teach skills appropriate to age and ability, using safe progressions and techniques
- Implement lesson plans aligned with the club’s curriculum and program goals
- Ensure all sessions start and finish on time and maintain good class flow
- Ensure a safe training environment at all times
- Conduct equipment checks and set-ups prior to class. Pack up after class
- Follow all club policies and procedures especially on injury management, supervision, and child Safety
- Maintain all required qualifications
- Build positive relationships with gymnasts and their families.
- Communicate with team leaders or coordinators about concerns, injuries, or incidents.
- Attend relevant training and team meetings to stay updated on curriculum and best practices.
- Complete various programming, admin or miscellaneous tasks as needed.
About the person
To be successful in this role, the candidate should:
- Hold or working towards a current Gymnastics Australia Accreditation
- Current First Aid, CPR Certificate and Working with Children Check clearance or willing to obtain
- Proven experience in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively at all levels.
This is an exciting opportunity for students to build their gymnastics experience while developing the skills and knowledge to become a Gymnastics Coach.
What’s on offer
This is a casual position, and rates will be between $16.49 and $42.07 per hour depending on accreditation (including casual loading) plus superannuation. Additional weekend penalties apply to the base rate (Saturday +25% & Sunday + 50%).
