Lower Grade Coaches - 2027
Eastwood Rugby Club is seeking motivated and ambitious coaches to join our Grade coaching program for the 2027 Shute Shield season.

- 2nd Grade Assistant Coach
- 3rd Grade Assistant Coach
- 4th Grade Coaches
These positions provide an opportunity to work within a competitive senior rugby environment, develop your coaching skills and play an important role in the development and performance of Eastwood Rugby’s Grade program.
The Roles
Working closely with the respective Head Coach and the wider Eastwood coaching group, successful applicants will assist in delivering a high-quality rugby program focused on player development, performance and strong team standards.
Depending on experience and coaching expertise, responsibilities may include attack, defence, set piece, breakdown, individual skills and other specialist areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering high-quality training sessions
- Coach individual, unit and team skills within an agreed area of responsibility
- Work collaboratively with Head Coaches and the wider Grade coaching group
- Assist with match preparation, opposition analysis and game-day coaching
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to players
- Support player development and progression through Eastwood’s Grade program
- Contribute to selection discussions and player reviews where required
- Help establish and maintain high standards around preparation, attendance, discipline and performance
- Build positive relationships with players, coaches and support staff
- Contribute to a strong and connected club culture
About You
We are looking for coaches who are passionate about rugby and genuinely interested in developing players and improving their own coaching.
Successful candidates will ideally demonstrate:
- Previous rugby coaching or relevant playing experience
- Strong rugby knowledge and understanding of the modern game
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A team-first and collaborative approach
- Reliability, organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to challenge players while building strong relationships
- A commitment to high standards and accountability
- A willingness to learn and develop as a coach
Relevant Rugby Australia coaching accreditation is desirable. However, we also encourage applications from emerging coaches who have strong rugby knowledge, the right attitude and a desire to progress their coaching career.
Commitment
Successful applicants will be expected to commit to Eastwood Rugby’s 2027 pre-season and Shute Shield season, including scheduled training sessions, Saturday match days and relevant coaching meetings.
Specific responsibilities will be determined based on the successful applicant’s experience, strengths and appointed team.
