The Opportunity
East Fremantle Football Club is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Senior Coach of its men's football program from the 2027 WAFL season.
This is an opportunity to lead one of Western Australia's most successful and historic football clubs and shape the next phase of the Club's senior men's football program.
The Club is seeking a strong football leader who can drive senior performance, establish consistently high standards and build a clearly identifiable football program across League, Reserves and Colts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a high-performance senior football environment with a clear focus on sustained on-field success.
- Establish and maintain strong standards across training, preparation, recovery and match performance.
- Develop and implement a clear, contemporary football philosophy and game model.
- Provide strong tactical education, game preparation, opposition analysis and match-day leadership.
- Create genuine alignment across League, Reserves and Colts through common football principles, standards and language.
- Lead, develop and effectively utilise the Club's broader coaching group.
- Provide clear communication, role clarity and meaningful individual feedback to players.
- Work collaboratively with Football Operations, High Performance, Medical, Recruiting and List Management.
- Support the progression of emerging players into senior football while maximising the performance of the senior playing group.
- Contribute positively to the broader Club environment and represent East Fremantle professionally with players, staff, members, sponsors, supporters, media and football stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
Candidates may come from a range of football backgrounds. Previous senior coaching experience is desirable but will not be the sole determining factor.
- Strong leadership and the ability to establish a demanding, accountable and positive football environment.
- High-level football knowledge and contemporary tactical understanding.
- The ability to teach football effectively and translate strategy into training and match-day execution.
- A strong record of communication, player management and relationship building.
- The ability to develop and lead coaches and football staff.
- An understanding of player development and the pathway from talent programs through to senior football.
- The ability to build alignment across an entire football program rather than operating solely within the League team.
- A collaborative approach to football operations, recruiting, list management and high performance.
- Strong personal values, sound judgement and the capacity to represent the Club professionally.
- Relevant coaching accreditation and experience within AFL, WAFL, VFL or another high-performance football environment.
Role Structure
East Fremantle Football Club is deliberately maintaining flexibility around the structure of this appointment.
The employment model, time commitment, remuneration package, football department structure and broader responsibilities will be determined having regard to the experience, capability and circumstances of the preferred candidate.
The Club is open to considering different role structures where they provide the best outcome for both the successful candidate and East Fremantle Football Club. A detailed Position Description and employment arrangements will be finalised as part of the appointment process.
