Volleyball Australia is the national governing body for volleyball, supporting growth in participation, performance and the profile of the sport across Australia.
We are seeking an experienced Events Manager to take responsibility for allocated events and projects, from planning and budgeting through to delivery, reporting and review.
About the role
Working with the Head of Events and General Manager – Event Operations, you will turn strategic priorities into well-organised events that meet agreed outcomes, budgets, contractual commitments, competition regulations and VA standards. This is a practical role requiring ownership, sound judgement and attention to detail across multiple events and competing deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Event planning and delivery: Lead event plans, timelines and operational delivery, coordinating competition management, venues, accreditation, sports presentation, broadcast, logistics, travel and stakeholder servicing.
- Financial management: Develop and manage event budgets, monitor income, expenditure, commitments and cash flow, manage procurement and suppliers, and address variances within delegated authority.
- Risk, safety and safeguarding: Maintain risk, contingency and safety plans; coordinate emergency arrangements and briefings; implement safeguarding requirements and workforce clearances; and promptly escalate concerns, incidents and delivery risks.
- Workforce coordination: Coordinate rostering, induction, briefings and supervision of event staff, contractors and volunteers within approved resources, providing clear direction and escalating concerns.
- Relationships and communications: Work closely with Member Associations, partners, venues, suppliers and participants, coordinate event communications and keep colleagues informed of changes affecting their work.
- Reporting and improvement: Maintain accurate records, meet internal and external reporting obligations, lead post-event reviews and implement agreed improvements.
- Practical event support: Contribute to set-up, pack-down and equipment handling across the broader Events portfolio.
Allocations may change to reflect organisational priorities, workloads and event requirements.
