We are Queensland's largest regional hockey association and multi-year recipients of the Hockey Queensland Association of the Year and proponent of the multi-award-winning Belong in Hockey program. With a track record of volunteer capacity building and developing athletes and coaches at both state and national levels, we’re looking for a highly skilled Coaching Manager to lead our programs and elevate the future of hockey in our community.
About the role
As Coaching Manager, you will design and implement a coach development framework for THA and drive the operational success of our hockey programs. The role will work closely with the Hockey Manager, THA clubs, representative coaches, athletes, parents, volunteers and key hockey stakeholders to ensure coaching and participation programs are aligned, well communicated and delivered to a high standard.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage: Support, develop and manage a team of Casual Development Officers; ensuring our laneways of participation are sustainably enhanced.
- Improve Coaching Depth: Oversee the design and delivery of coaching pathways that support coaches at beginner, developing and performance levels.
- Build relationships: Develop strong working relationships with representative coaches, ensuring high levels of engagement, preparation and support before and during State Championships.
- High performance: Support athletes and representative teams to prepare effectively for state, national and international competitions. You will also design initiatives that develop players at all skill levels and build depth across THA’s representative program.

- A sustainable coaching pathway is extended to inspire and engage coaches across all levels.
- The robust calendar of programs at THA is continually enhanced by quality delivery and the depth, standard, and diversity of our member base continues to grow.

About you
You are a dynamic, optimistic and driven coaching professional who thrives on developing others, nurturing talent and building structured pathways for success. Your passion for hockey is matched by your ability to communicate effectively with volunteers, athletes, coaches, parents and staff.
Key skills and requirements:
- Minimum Level 2 Hockey Australia/FIH Coaching Accreditation.
- Proven experience delivering high-quality programs.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, players, families, officials and community clubs.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with experience managing training programs, selection processes, and representative team preparation.
- A proactive, forward-thinking mindset with the ability to continually enhance and develop new programs to boost participation.
Desirable attributes:
- Experience with Indoor Hockey, Hockey 5s and the development of officials, supporting THA’s ambition to be a national leader in these areas.
- Ability to contribute to a network of national and international hockey contacts.
- Interest in embracing new technologies to support coaching, communication and program delivery.
- Ability to use social media and digital communication channels to engage the THA community.
