Brisbane Tigers are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Coach to join our Hostplus Cup coaching team for the 2027 season. Working closely with the Head Coach and the broader football and high-performance team, the Assistant Coach will play an important role in preparing the team for sustained success in the Hostplus Cup.
Key responsibilities
The Assistant Coach will:
- Support the Head Coach in planning and delivering the Hostplus Cup football program.
- Lead designated areas of the team’s attacking, defensive or positional program.
- Plan and deliver high-quality field, unit and individual coaching sessions.
- Contribute to weekly team selection, game planning and opposition analysis.
- Review training and match performance using video and performance data.
- Provide clear, constructive and individualised feedback to players.
- Work collaboratively with performance, medical, wellbeing and football operations staff.
- Support the development and progression of players across the Brisbane Tigers pathway.
- Help establish and maintain high standards of preparation, performance, discipline and behaviour.
- Build trusted relationships with players, coaches, staff and relevant stakeholders.
- Represent the Brisbane Tigers professionally and uphold the Club’s values at all times.
About you
You will be a collaborative, detail-oriented coach who understands the demands of a high-performance rugby league environment.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
- Coaching experience within an elite, semi-professional or professional rugby league program.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary rugby league techniques, systems and strategies.
- The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate effective coaching sessions.
- Experience with video analysis, opposition review and individual player development.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build rapport while maintaining high standards and accountability.
- A team-first approach and the capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary football department.
- Sound judgement, integrity and discretion.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Availability for scheduled training sessions, matches, team meetings and travel throughout the season.
Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should hold, or be willing to obtain:
- An appropriate rugby league coaching accreditation.
- A current Working with Children Check/Blue Card where required.
- Current first aid and CPR qualifications, or a willingness to obtain them.
- A current driver licence.
Appointment will be subject to the Club’s standard screening and compliance requirements.
