Description

About Us

The Perth Bears are Western Australia’s newest professional sporting club, set to join the NRL in 2027. As a high-performance organisation, we’re committed to building strong foundations on and off the field to ensure long-term success. Joining our team means being part of a rare start-up opportunity in elite sport, where your expertise will directly shape the future of rugby league in WA and help deliver a lasting legacy for our community.

The Opportunity

Perth Bears are seeking two experienced Physiotherapists to join our High Performance team.

Role 1: Physiotherapist

You will support the delivery of physiotherapy, injury management, rehabilitation, player treatment, and match day medical services for the Perth Bears playing squad. Working within an integrated high performance environment, you will collaborate closely with physiotherapists, medical practitioners, strength and conditioning staff, and coaches to maximise player health, performance, and availability.

Role 2: Senior Physiotherapist

As the senior physiotherapy practitioner within the club, you will take ownership of complex injury management and rehabilitation cases, provide clinical leadership across the physiotherapy function, and play an important role in shaping standards, processes, and best practice delivery.

What Both Roles Will Do:

  • Deliver physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and injury management services.
  • Provide training and match-day medical support, including strapping and acute injury management.
  • Design, implement, and monitor rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
  • Support injury prevention, prehabilitation, and athlete monitoring initiatives.
  • Collaborate with medical and performance staff to optimise player outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, treatment notes, and injury reporting.
  • Coordinate medical equipment, supplies, and operational readiness for training and travel.
  • Contribute to a positive and high-performing multidisciplinary environment.

At Senior Physiotherapist level, you will also:

  • Lead the management of complex injuries and rehabilitation programs.
  • Establish objective return-to-play criteria and performance testing frameworks.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to physiotherapy staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement and the development of physiotherapy standards, systems, and processes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to athletes, coaches, and performance staff

What We are Looking For Both Roles

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Current AHPRA registration and professional indemnity insurance.
  • Experience in sports physiotherapy, including rehabilitation, return-to-play planning, athlete treatment, and acute injury management.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and navigate complex and high pressure sporting environments.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

For Senior Physiotherapist appointments, you will additionally demonstrate:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in sports physiotherapy.
  • Experience independently managing complex injury and rehabilitation cases.
  • Strong clinical leadership capability and experience mentoring other practitioners.
  • Advanced expertise in return-to-play planning and objective performance testing

Why Join Us?

This is more than a job. It's a rare opportunity to help shape the future of the Perth Bears and build the foundations of a new NRL club. As part of a start-up environment, your ideas, expertise, and leadership will directly influence the development of our players, coaches, and performance pathways.

You'll have the chance to build a best-in-class development system from the ground up and work within an ambitious, collaborative, and high performing culture. Most importantly, you'll leave a legacy on rugby league in Western Australia and help shape the next generation of Perth Bears talent.

Working in a Start-Up Environment

The Perth Bears are a start-up organisation in a critical foundation phase. Like other roles recruited to date, this position is intentionally hands-on and will initially operate with lean support structures.

The role will be fully accountable for establishing, delivering, and operating the function, while the club grows. This is not a role with layers of administration or inherited systems. You will be required to design processes, integrate technology platforms, build relationships, solve problems in real time, and deliver outcomes concurrently.

Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity, strong personal accountability, and the ability to move seamlessly between strategic planning and day-to-day execution.

Important Information

This role is based in Perth, Western Australia and remote working opportunities are not available.

The Perth Bears are an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people with disability.
