Swan River Rowing Club (SRRC), based in Perth, Western Australia, is inviting applications from experienced and passionate coaches for a full-time Rowing Coach - Club & Pathway position. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed rowing coach to join a thriving club environment and support continued growth and development of the SRRC programme.

Working closely with the SRRC Head Coach, the Club & Pathway Coach will help extend the Club’s high-performance, athlete-centred environment while supporting the day-to-day running of one of Western Australia's oldest and most respected rowing clubs. The role holder will be responsible for delivery and support of key club programs, including Talent Identification, development camps, and community projects, in addition to supporting the coaching team in the coaching of club, junior, senior, and Pathway athletes.

Founded in 1885, SRRC is the second-oldest rowing club in Western Australia and one of the State's oldest sporting institutions. Based on the Canning River, just south of the Perth CBD, the club has grown into a thriving community of over 200 active and social members, spanning recreational rowing through to high performance and national team representation.

Over more than 140 years, SRRC has built a proud competitive history, producing numerous National and International representatives.

SRRC is a Rowing Australia and Rowing WA Pathway and High-Performance Partner, combining a strong competitive programme with a supportive club culture. SRRC was recognised as the Rowing Australia Club of the Year in 2024 and Rowing Australia Program of the Year in 2025.

• Working with the Head Coach, the Club & Pathway Coach will have responsibility for the delivery of key club programs including:
  • Junior Development and Talent Identification
  • Pathway / Scholarship athlete program
  • School engagement & development programs
  • Community engagement
  • Competition / camp coaching & logistics
• Undertake coaching duties both on water and land / S&C sessions;
• Work closely with the Head Coach to ensure SRRC's coaching, performance, and development needs are met;
• Deliver high-quality coaching sessions on land and water across squads and ability levels;
• Plan and deliver structured training programmes in line with the Club's strategy;
• Support pathway athletes in their preparation for and progression through state and national selection events;
• Coordinate race preparation, crew selection, and logistics for club regattas, State championships, the Australian Rowing Championships, and other key regattas;
• Support and mentor volunteer and assistant coaches within the club;
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive training environment for all members;
• Monitor athlete progress, maintain training records, and provide regular, constructive feedback;
• Support recruitment and retention of members, including Learn to Row intake and school outreach programs;
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Club's coaching plan and long-term strategic goals;
• Assist with boat maintenance, rigging, and equipment checks as required;
• Assist with transport of boats and equipment for competitions as required;
• Ensure compliance with Rowing Australia / Rowing WA safety standards and safeguarding policies at all times.

• Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g. Rowing Australia Development Coach accreditation, or a willingness to work towards this);
• Previous coaching experience in rowing, ideally at club, State, or representative level;
• Strong technical knowledge of rowing technique, training principles, periodisation, and race strategy;
• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills;
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes across a wide range of abilities and experience levels;
• Familiarity with Rowing Australia / Rowing WA safety standards and safeguarding policies;
• Current First Aid certification and a valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain both);
• Skippers Certificate (or relevant speed boat / marine licence) (or willingness to obtain);
• Current S&C qualifications (or willingness to work towards obtaining);
• A proactive, reliable, and collaborative approach to working within a coaching team.

• Experience coaching at State / Pathway squads, SIS/SAS Pathway, or other high-performance programs;
• Understanding of community and pathway club structures within WA rowing;
• Boat maintenance and rigging knowledge;
• Current WA (or equivalent) driver's licence (for towing trailers to regattas);
• Coastal rowing or coaching experience;
• A relevant degree or background in sports science, coaching, or a related field.
