About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, driven and passionate NBL1 Women’s Head Coach to lead our program and play a key role in the continued development and success of our senior women’s program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a strong team culture, developing players and staff, and building a competitive program that provides a clear pathway from WABL through to NBL1.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the NBL1 Women’s program, including training, games and program planning.
  • Develop and implement a clear playing style and basketball philosophy aligned with the club’s broader high-performance objectives.
  • Create a positive, accountable and high-performance team culture.
  • Develop players individually and collectively, with a strong focus on long-term player development.
  • Lead game preparation, scouting, tactical planning and in-game coaching.
  • Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, development coaches, strength & conditioning staff and support staff.
  • Support the integration of emerging and junior players into the NBL1 environment, including involvement with our WABL High Performance Academy and overall WABL program.
  • Build strong relationships with NBL1, WABL and junior coaches to strengthen the club’s player pathway.
  • Assist with player recruitment, retention and roster planning.
  • Provide regular feedback and development opportunities for players and coaching staff.
  • Represent the club professionally within the NBL1 competition and broader basketball community.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and strategic direction of the women’s program.

About You

We are looking for a coach who:

  • Has demonstrated experience coaching at a high level, preferably within NBL1 or an equivalent competition.
  • Hold relevant Basketball Australia qualifications
  • Has a strong understanding of women’s basketball and player development.
  • Is an excellent communicator and relationship builder.
  • Is organised, professional and accountable.
  • Is committed to creating an inclusive, positive and high-performance environment.
  • Has a genuine passion for developing athletes and creating opportunities for the next generation of players.
  • Can balance competitive success with meaningful player development.
