The Sports Scientist - Swimming role will support elite swimming coaches and athletes at the Sunshine Coast Hub through the delivery of physiology and movement science expertise as part of the performance support team.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide world-leading evidence-based Physiology and Movement Science (integrated biomechanics, skill acquisition and performance analysis) servicing and advice to QAS coaches and categorised athletes in line with each athlete's Individual Athlete Performance Plan (IAPP), which is aligned with the swimming What IT Takes To Win (WITTW) framework.
  • Work collaboratively with the QAS Senior Movement Scientist and Senior Physiologist to ensure servicing is targeted and effective in Sunshine Coast Hub programs.
  • Deliver specific and relevant performance testing and tracking/monitoring for categorised athletes and provide timely feedback to the Coaches, Athletes and Performance Support team members.
  • Contribute to the development of IAPPs and regularly review the associated specific development priorities and performance metrics to measure progress.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a high performing team, establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and deliver high quality integrated outcomes.
  • Work closely with the relevant discipline leads to ensure impactful movement science and physiology is being delivered at the QAS.

  • A postgraduate qualification in the relevant field would be highly desirable.
