The role
Applications are currently open for the highly sought after position of Head of Strength & Conditioning at our School. Working in this full time, ongoing role will provide experienced strength and conditioning coaches with the opportunity to step into a leadership role in an established program where S&C is a valued partner.
Reporting to the Director of Sport, the Head of Strength & Conditioning is responsible for the ongoing development and coordination of the BGS Strength & Conditioning Program to ensure positive health and wellbeing outcomes for students, staff and the BGS community.
As our Head of Strength and Conditioning you will be responsible for:
- Oversight of the whole school S&C program aimed at developing physical wellbeing.
- Working with the Director of Sport to ensure all sports received appropriate S&C program support throughout the year.
- Overseeing a team of staff in order to support an established Physical Education Program for students in Years 7-10 aimed at developing safe practice and increasing knowledge.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Strength and Conditioning Facility, ensuring a safe, well-maintained and hazard-free environment, with all equipment regularly inspected and maintained in appropriate working order.
- Designing, implementing and supervising safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate strength and conditioning programs for students and staff before and after the school day, aligned with the School's Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.
- Coordinating and delivering sport science services including GPS monitoring, fitness testing, athlete profiling, workload monitoring and wellbeing data collection to inform athlete development and program planning.
- Managing the School's internship program within S&C.
- Other duties as listed in the position description (attached).
To be successful and thrive in this position you will require:
- Relevant experience in a similar position together with further qualification in Exercise Sport Science (i.e. Bachelor’s degree) Note: Whilst a Master's Degree is Strength and Conditioning is desirable, this is not essential.
- Experience in using sport science equipment including Catapult, VALD and AMS.
- ASCA Level 2 Professional.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating group training/fitness sessions with teenagers and adults.
- Proven ability to motivate and build strong rapport with teenagers to enhance their fitness and overall wellbeing.
- Knowledge of current trends in long term athletic development.
- A natural ability to motivate others with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships.
- Level 2 First Aid certificate, current CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management qualifications.
A current Working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check are essential for this position. Should you not have these checks, you would be expected to apply for them should you be successful in securing the position.
