We're searching for an energetic, innovative, and community-focused Participation Manager to lead the growth of basketball across the ACT. About the Role
As our Participation Manager, you'll be responsible for leading Basketball ACT's participation pathway—from a child's first basketball experience through to lifelong involvement in our sport.
You'll oversee the design, delivery and growth of participation, inclusion, school and community programs while ensuring every participant enjoys a safe, welcoming and memorable experience.
This isn't simply an office role. One day you'll be meeting with schools, the next you'll be developing new inclusion initiatives, mentoring coaches, planning community events or helping deliver programs on court.
Every day is different, and every day you'll help more people fall in love with basketball.
What You'll Be Doing
Grow the Game
- Develop innovative participation programs that attract new players.
- Expand Basketball ACT's Learn to Play, school and community initiatives.
- Identify new opportunities to increase participation across the ACT.
- Create programs that remove barriers and make basketball accessible for everyone.
Lead Community Programs
- Manage the delivery of participation and inclusion programs.
- Coordinate program schedules, staffing and resources.
- Recruit, mentor and support coaches and casual program staff.
- Ensure programs are engaging, safe and professionally delivered.
Champion Inclusion
You'll play a key role in ensuring basketball is a sport where everyone belongs.
This includes:
- All-Abilities programs
- Indigenous engagement
- Multicultural participation
- Female participation initiatives
- Social inclusion programs
- Community outreach projects
Build Strong Partnerships
You'll work closely with:
- Schools
- Local clubs
- Government
- Community organisations
- Basketball Australia
- Volunteers
- Parents and participants
Strong relationships will be at the centre of everything you do.
Lead with Purpose
You'll contribute to Basketball ACT's culture by:
- Supporting staff and coaches
- Driving continuous improvement
- Managing budgets and program outcomes
- Measuring success through participation growth and community impact
- Ensuring programs align with Basketball ACT's strategic direction.

Essential Requirements
- Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration
- Current Driver's Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Relevant qualifications in Sport Management, Exercise Science, Community Development or equivalent experience
