Description

About the role

Touch Football Victoria (TFV) is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic volunteer intern to join our team and support the delivery of our competitions and events program. This is a genuine, hands-on role that gives you real exposure to sport administration - not just making coffees.

You'll work closely with our Club & Competitions Coordinator across a range of events, with your primary focus on the VT League, Victoria's premier elite club Touch Football competition alongside supporting responsibilities for our Social Competitions and the Junior State Cup in December.

This is an unpaid volunteer role, however a honorarium will be provided to the successful candidate upon completion of the program in recognition of their contribution.

What you'll be doing

  • Attending VT League Sunday fixtures to assist with on-the-day operations and logistics
  • Tracking player eligibility and monitoring games played to ensure finals compliance
  • Managing competition records, match statistics, and try scorer data
  • Following up on outstanding match items and preparing for the week ahead each Monday
  • Liaising with team managers and officials to keep competitions running smoothly
  • Providing admin support for our Social Competitions including registration, division management, and participant communications
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of the TFV Junior State Cup in December

What we're looking for

  • Strong organisation and communication skills
  • Comfortable with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to stay calm and solutions-focused on busy competition days
  • A genuine interest in community sport and events
  • Familiarity with Touch Football or similar sport environments is a bonus, as is study in Sport Management, Recreation, or Business

What you'll gain

  • Practical, real-world experience across elite club, social, and junior representative sport
  • Mentorship from experienced sport administration professionals
  • A strong reference and a portfolio of genuine event delivery experience
  • Connections within the Victorian and national Touch Football community
  • Travel reimbursement on event days
  • An honorarium upon successful completion of the program

Commitment

Core days: Sundays (VT League competition days) and Mondays (office-based at Seabrook Reserve, Broadmeadows). Additional days may be required around peak event periods, particularly in the lead-up to the Junior State Cup in December. We'll work flexibly with you where we can.

Duration: September – December 2026

Travel: Travel expenses incurred on event days will be reimbursed.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
