About the Opportunity

The St George Illawarra Dragons are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified Strength & Conditioning professionals to join our Pathways High Performance Program.

We are seeking to identify practitioners to fill a number of roles across our junior representative teams, working with male and female squads aged 16-19, based at either our Wollongong or Kogarah locations.

Roles available include:

  • Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach - Minimum ASCA Level 2 accreditation
  • Strength & Conditioning Coach - Minimum ASCA Level 1 accreditation

This EOI process aims to build a high-quality S&C network that supports the physical development, performance, and long-term progression of athletes within the Dragons Pathway system.

Role Overview

Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach

  • Lead the design and delivery of the physical preparation program
  • Oversee gym and field-based conditioning aligned to the Dragons High Performance framework
  • Monitor athlete workloads, physical testing, and performance data
  • Collaborate with coaching, medical, and performance staff
  • Provide leadership and guidance to athletes and support staff

Strength & Conditioning Coach

  • Assist in delivering structured strength and conditioning programs
  • Focus on foundational athletic development and movement competency
  • Support monitoring of training loads and athlete wellbeing
  • Work closely with coaches to align physical development with on-field performance

Key Responsibilities (Across Both Roles)

  • Deliver age-appropriate strength, conditioning, and injury-prevention programs
  • Implement best-practice athlete development principles
  • Track and report on athlete progress and performance metrics
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and high-performance training environment
  • Support talent development and progression within the Dragons Pathways

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are passionate about developing young athletes in a high-performance environment
  • Have experience working in team sport (preferably rugby league or similar)
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and collaboration skills
  • Understand long-term athlete development and youth physical preparation
  • Are aligned with a professional, development-first philosophy

Essential Requirements

  • Lead S&C Coach: Minimum ASCA Level 2 accreditation
  • S&C Coach: Minimum ASCA Level 1 accreditation
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Availability for training sessions and competition commitments

Desirable Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Exercise Science, Sport Science, or similar)
  • Experience in elite junior, academy, or representative programs
  • Exposure to load monitoring, GPS, and athlete management systems
  • Understanding of rugby league physical demands
