Description

The NBL is growing. The events calendar reflects it. This role keeps it all on track.

The NBL is Australia's fastest growing sports league, with record attendance, a new free-to-air broadcast deal with Nine, and a full basketball ecosystem that now includes the WNBL, NBL1, 3x3 Hustle and the Next Stars programme.

This role sits at the centre of that momentum. You will manage a busy events calendar, own delivery across multiple concurrent projects, and be the person everyone relies on to keep it all moving.

About Us

The National Basketball League is regarded as one of the premier basketball leagues in the world, home to some of the world's best players, and truly a sports entertainment experience like no other. We are a league that is growing fast, thinking big and constantly raising the bar. If you want to be part of something that is genuinely on the rise, you will find your place here.

The Role

You sit within the Projects and Events team. This is a delivery role: execution, not strategy. You take projects from brief to completion across a busy events calendar, managing multiple workstreams at once without things slipping.

The events are high-profile and the stakeholder group is wide, covering clubs, venues, government partners, broadcasters, sponsors and suppliers. You are the person who keeps all of it coordinated and on track.

Day to day, you will be:

  • Managing project plans, timelines, budgets and workflows across concurrent events
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for internal teams, vendors and external stakeholders
  • Facilitating project meetings, documenting outcomes and holding people to agreed actions
  • Identifying risks early and putting mitigation in place before issues escalate
  • Managing contracts and ensuring compliance with legal, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Tracking performance against KPIs and producing clear reports throughout each project lifecycle

Who We're Looking For

We want someone who has owned delivery at this level, not just supported it.

You have worked in sports, entertainment or large-scale events. You know how to build a project plan people actually follow, manage a difficult vendor conversation without losing the relationship, and treat documentation as the thing that keeps projects on course.

To be considered, you will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Event Management, Business or a related field
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in sports, entertainment or large-scale events
  • A proven track record of delivering projects on time, on scope and on budget
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and leading teams under tight deadlines
  • Experience managing high-profile events across a wide stakeholder group including vendors, sponsors and suppliers
  • Strong financial acumen: budgets built, spend tracked, variances reported
  • Clear communication skills and a track record of following through

Familiarity with Monday.com and Microsoft 365 is an advantage. Experience using AI tools in your workflow is worth mentioning.

This role will not suit someone who needs everything defined before they move, or who comes from a purely creative background without the governance experience to match. The right person is organised, thorough and confident holding stakeholders accountable. When a project has your name on it, it lands.

Must Have Values

These are not aspirational. They are the minimum we expect from everyone at the NBL.

  • Always Think Big Be courageous. Be open to new ideas. Learn and grow. No limits.
  • Be Accountable Own it. Ask for help. The scoreboard matters.
  • Integrity is Key Act ethically. Act honestly. Keep our word.
  • Show Respect Show care. Listen and seek to understand. Value opinions.
  • We Are Fans Too Have fun. Always consider the fan. Share the love of the game.
  • One Team Communicate. Trust each other. Celebrate the wins. Build relationships.

What's on Offer

  • Work on high-profile NBL events with real ownership and variety
  • Be part of a league at record-breaking growth
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
