Rowing Australia is the national governing body for rowing in Australia, responsible for leading, administering and growing the sport nationally. We support rowing from community participation through to Australia’s Olympic and Paralympic high-performance programs, while working to protect, grow and innovate the sport for future generations.
We are seeking a creative and energetic Digital Content Lead to help capture and share the people, passion and performance behind Australian rowing.
This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career digital content creator who is passionate about sport, storytelling and social media. You will play a key role in elevating the profile of Australian rowing, its athletes, events, partners and community as the sport builds towards Brisbane 2032.
About the role
The Digital Content Lead will create engaging digital content across Rowing Australia’s owned channels, with a strong focus on short-form video, photography, social media and real-time event coverage.
Working closely with the Media & Communications Manager, High Performance team, Events, Development, athletes, coaches and rowing communities, you will help shape and deliver content that connects audiences to the sport and showcases rowing on the national and international stage.
This role will include regular travel between Canberra and Penrith, attendance at domestic rowing events, and potential opportunities to support content coverage at major international events.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Capture and edit high-quality video and photography content.
- Produce engaging short-form and social media content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and emerging channels.
- Support the development and delivery of Rowing Australia’s annual digital content calendar.
- Create real-time event coverage, behind-the-scenes content and athlete storytelling.
- Highlight key Rowing Australia assets including the Australian Rowing Team, U23 and U19 teams, domestic events, RowNation and community rowing activities.
- Support sponsor and commercial partner integration through creative digital content.
- Maintain organised digital assets and content archives.
- Work collaboratively with athletes, coaches, staff, partners and stakeholders to deliver compelling stories.
- Contribute to content plans for major domestic events including national championships, indoor rowing, masters rowing, beach sprint rowing and awards events.
About you
You are a creative storyteller who understands how to capture attention online. You enjoy being hands-on with content, can work quickly in live event environments, and know how to turn moments into engaging digital stories.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in digital content creation, particularly video and photography.
- Strong editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro or similar editing software.
- Understanding of social media formats, trends and audience engagement.
- Confidence using camera, lighting and audio equipment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, positive and flexible approach.
- A genuine interest in sport, storytelling and building athlete and brand profiles.
Experience with Photoshop, Canva, After Effects or Lightroom would be highly regarded.
Additional requirements
This role requires flexibility in working hours and regular domestic travel. Due to the nature of sporting events and international competition, work may be required outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
