Fremantle Rowing Club is one of Western Australia’s oldest and most established rowing clubs, founded in 1886 and located on the Swan River in East Fremantle. The Club is a vibrant, inclusive and competitive community that supports athletes across all ages and abilities, from learn-to-row participants through to state and national representatives. With a strong focus on developing people through sport, Fremantle Rowing Club provides high-quality coaching, facilities and programs that enable athletes to achieve personal excellence while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
Aligned with Fremantle Rowing Club’s vision to develop people through sport and community, the Head Coach plays a central leadership role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and a high-quality, development-focused rowing environment across all levels of the club. This position is responsible for providing and embedding a strong coaching culture that reflects the club’s values of inclusivity, equity, cooperation, innovation, and excellence.
The Head Coach will lead the development of athletes and coaches alike, ensuring consistent, high-quality coaching practices and clear athlete pathways from learn-to-row through to competitive and high-performance progression. Recognising that many athletes transition into external high-performance programs, this role focuses on building strong technical foundations, supporting individual development, and preparing athletes for their next stage.
Equally, the role is pivotal in creating a “club for life” culture, one that prioritises participation, wellbeing, and long-term engagement across juniors, seniors, and masters. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and community-oriented leader who contributes to the broader strategic goals of the club, including strengthening partnerships, supporting volunteer development, and enhancing communication across athletes, coaches, and the committee.
This is a holistic leadership role suited to someone who values not only performance outcomes, but also the long-term sustainability, culture, and growth of a thriving rowing community.
