Football Victoria (FV) is the governing body for football in Victoria.

We are recognised as the organisation responsible for the administration, promotion and delivery of football and futsal (indoor football) in the state by both the State and Federal Governments, as well as Football Australia (FA).

Our funding derives from membership and club affiliation fees, government grants and corporate sponsorship.

Through the national body's affiliation with FIFA (Federation of International Football Associations), we look after everything football in Victoria including:

  • Coaches;
  • Officials;
  • Volunteers.

FV are a not-for-profit sporting organisation run by a Board of Directors. We reinvest any money generated by the game in a financially prudent manner, prioritising in providing more coaching, education, facilities, support and participation opportunities to the community and our partners back to where it is needed most.

We currently employ over 80 staff to deliver on the FV Strategic Plan (“Our Football”) and administration of weekly football matches, producing annual football fixtures and appropriate rules of competition. Referees are also appointed to these matches to facilitate a safer and more enjoyable participation experience.

We also deliver education programs and resources to talented players, coaches, referees, and club volunteers while promoting the game through various channels, keeping our members informed regularly through a dedicated communications program.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Competitions Coordinator will structure, facilitate, coordinate and maintain all Advanced, Community and Cup Competitions administered by FV throughout Metropolitan & Regional Victoria. The Competitions Coordinator is required to actively meet with and engage clubs throughout the season calendar to strengthen relationships between FV and member clubs. The role sits within a team of other Competitions Coordinators and together the objectives of the broader Football Operations department are achieved.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Competitions

  • Review, revise (where required) and enforce the Rules of Competition and supporting Regulations.
  • Finalise and implement competition structures.
  • Coordinate team entry process for Community & Cup Competitions.
  • Proactively engage clubs and referees to monitor the collection of all Match Results, Best & Fairest, and Top Goal Scorer data.
  • Responsible for all enquires and correspondence associated with relevant competitions.
  • Assist with the administration of regional competitions as directed by the Manager - Competitions.
  • Assist clubs through the State League Men’s New Club Application process.
  • Assist in the delivery of all finals, playoffs and Cup Competitions for relevant leagues.
  • Coordinate the Dispensation Process for relevant leagues.
  • Ensure compliance with Advanced Competitions Participation Licenses.

Fixturing

  • Coordinate and execute all fixture changes in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the rescheduling of postponed and abandoned matches.
  • Assist in coordinating, implementing and releasing of fixtures for all relevant competitions
  • Liaise with Referees Department regarding match officials for competition fixtures.
  • Coordinate the rescheduling of postponed and abandoned fixtures.
  • Liaise with Discipline, Registrations, and Finance to investigate fixtures and apply subsequent sanctions, when required.

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating of competition specific functions for events administered by FV including but not limited to Advanced & Community Finals fixtures, Cup Competitions, FV Experience, etc.
  • Liaise with the Growth & Development department and local government authorities/venue operators to conduct pitch and facility inspections and certify facilities for all competition fixtures.
  • Liaise with competition software providers (DRIBL & Predictive Analytics Group) to monitor and improve software performance and functionality.
  • Deliver training of relevant FV systems (DRIBL, AutoStat, Play Football) to club volunteers, referees and specific FV staff.
  • Promote inclusive practice and ensure any organisational decision making and programs implemented include the needs of all segments of the football community – Juniors, Men’s, Women’s, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Indigenous and people of all abilities.
  • Deliver excellent customer service for all stakeholders related to the position and the team.
  • Assist with any other tasks as directed by the Lead Competition Coordinators.
  • Regularly meet with key stakeholders throughout Advanced Competitions, including the compiling and distributing minutes from Club delegate meetings.

  • All league structures and fixtures released on time.
  • All other published key dates met.
  • Efficiently process and communicate all necessary fixture changes to all affected members.
  • Ensure weekly match results are entered in FV systems (DRIBL).
  • Regular meetings, Club visits and consultation with Clubs.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with FV affiliated associations, clubs and relevant local government authorities.
  • High level of communication and interaction with clubs.
  • Effective up to date utilisation of the relevant competitions systems and training of systems for other team members.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A valid Working with Children’s Check.
  • Tertiary qualification in sports administration/management or relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience of competitions-based administration in the sports industry.
  • Demonstrable passion for the organisation’s vision, mission, and core values.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sporting club structures.
  • Proven ability to work with varying IT platforms and database management systems to deliver a service.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities within time constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing a diverse range of customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willing to embrace a strong team environment.
  • A thorough understanding and proven ability and desire to develop the game of Football.
  • Proficient experience with MS Packages.
  • Exposure to competition management online software is preferable.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position regularly requires non-traditional hours and frequent weekend work. Travel is primarily local during business days; some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. From time to time, you may be expected to be flexible and temporarily cover additional duties outside of the position description.
