Background
In 2024/25 Brisbane Women’s Hockey Association (BWHA) and Brisbane Hockey Association (BHA) undertook the Future of Hockey in Brisbane Review. The Review identified the need for a unified, whole-of-sport approach to governance, operations and development of hockey across the Brisbane region. The purpose of the Review included:
- To undertake a detailed and comprehensive current state analysis of the sport of hockey in Brisbane and its key deliver agencies;
- To recommend a preferred business model for Hockey in Brisbane;
- To propose a ‘road’ map for change, including timeframes.
BWHA and BHA have endorsed all Review recommendations in principle and look forward to their effective implementation, to ensure the sport is governed to best practice standards.
