Description

Melbourne Girls Grammar School (MGGS) is seeking multiple enthusiastic and committed Casual Rowing Coaches, including a 2nd VIII Coach, to join our Rowing Program for the 2026/2027 season. 

The MGGS Rowing Program takes a holistic approach to student development, grounded in the School’s values of Integrity, Compassion, Courage and Self-discipline. Coaches play a key role in supporting students to perform at a high standard both on and off the water, within a vibrant, positive and inclusive rowing community. 

The Role 

Reporting to the Head of Rowing, coaches will: 

  • Deliver on-water and land-based coaching for crews and individuals 
  • Support training sessions across Junior, Intermediate and Senior squads 
  • Attend camps and regattas throughout the season 
  • Actively support and uphold MGGS’s commitment to child safety in all interactions with students. 

Coaching opportunities are available across: 

  • Junior Program - focused on establishing the fundamentals of the sport through a safe and supportive environment. 
  • Intermediate Program – focused on developing the fundamentals where students are challenging their perceived limits on and off the water. 
  • Senior Program, including a dedicated 2nd VIII coaching position, contributing to MGGS’s high-performance program and strong competitive record

Availability 

The rowing season runs from Term 3, 2026 to the end of Term 1, 2027, including training commitments during the December/January school holidays. Flexibility is essential. 

Successful applicants must hold: 

  • Victorian Employee Working with Children Check 
  • Provide CPR (HLTAID009) and Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) 
  • Rowing Australia NCAS Level 1 Coaching Accreditation 
  • Community Coaching Essential Skills Course 
  • Victorian Boat Licence 

Applicants must hold or prior to commencing employment or be willing to obtain a current and valid Victorian (Employee) Working with Children's Check. All applicants are subject to reference and identity checks, verification of Working with Children Check Card or VIT Registration as part of the recruitment process.
