Description

The Australian Sports Commission is embarking on the Green and Gold decade. An exciting time filled with international sporting competitions on home soil, including the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup, and culminating in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We have an ambitious new Strategic Vision and we need the best players on our team to help us deliver real results for the sporting sector and all Australians.

Are you up for the challenge?

About the team – The AIS REST Hub is a specialised team that supports Australia’s High Performance (HP) sport system through four key pillars: Recovery, Environment, Sleep, and Travel. The REST Hub drives practical, evidence-informed solutions to optimise performance and wellbeing. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and system-wide impact, the team works closely with the HP sport system to build capability and support the implementation of best practice strategies.

About the role – We’re seeking a proactive and capable professional to join the AIS REST Hub in Canberra. Working collaboratively across the HP sport system, the role will provide practical support to practitioners and sport support staff, contribute to the development of REST-related resources, and progress strategically aligned projects and initiatives. The position also contributes to shaping best practice and building capability across sports, environments, and performance contexts. If you have strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to deliver evidence-informed practical solutions, we encourage you to apply.

About you – You will ideally have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in sport science, physiology, sports medicine, or a related field.
  • High-level expertise in at least one pillar of the AIS REST Hub, with demonstrated ability to translate evidence into end-to-end practical application and delivery.
  • Breadth of knowledge across additional REST pillars, with the ability to integrate strategies into practical and effective performance outcomes.
  • A sound understanding of the Australian HP sport system, including its structure, stakeholders, and operational environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and build effective working relationships to deliver strategic outcomes across organisations and locations.
  • High levels of initiative, adaptability, and self-motivation, with the ability to perform effectively in dynamic environments.

This backfill position is offered as a FIXED TERM position until 26 March 2027.
