The Opportunity
The Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC) is looking for passionate and energetic individuals to join our MACquaEd team, providing swimming lessons to schools and members of a variety of ages and abilities. We are looking for existing qualified teachers, as well as the right candidate to support in obtaining qualifications.
Shift availability is flexible across weekdays during school hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise and communicate effectively with class participants and their parent/guardian
- Maintain a safe environment for the duration of the class.
- Continually maintain and upgrade knowledge to provide the highest standards of swimming and water safety education.
- Provide instruction to class participants to support their development in achieving proficiency in swimming and water safety skills and progress through the RLSS-A Swim and Survive program levels
- Responsible to commence and finish classes according to the rostered schedule.
- Continuously review and adjust the grading of class participants to ensure continuity of progression through the RLSS-A Swim and Survive Program.
- Assist and rectify where possible, class participant's difficulties and queries
- Actively participate in team development workshops, meetings and training.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following essential qualifications:
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (Austswim, SCTA or LSV)
- CPR
- Level 2 First Aid
- Valid Working with Children Check (employment version)
- No relevant criminal record found in a police check.
