Catering to over 6,500 members, the Association offers a variety of basketball programs to players of all ages and abilities. Position Summary
The Referee Administrator is responsible for the coordination, scheduling, and administrative management of basketball referees across competitions and programs. This role ensures that games are appropriately staffed with qualified officials, supports referee communication and logistics, and assists in the effective operation of the officiating program. The Referee Administrator works closely with referee coordinators, educators, competition managers, and league officials to maintain a professional and efficient officiating environment.
This is a part time or casual position.
This position reports to our Officials Manager and General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Referee Scheduling & Allocation
- Assign referees to games across competitions, ensuring appropriate experience levels and coverage.
- Manage referee availability and maintain accurate scheduling records.
- Monitor and adjust assignments to address last-minute changes, absences, or conflicts.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary administrative contact for referees regarding game assignments, updates, and operational information.
- Communicate schedules, venue changes, and competition updates to referees in a timely manner.
- Liaise with competition administrators, venue staff, and referee leadership groups.
Referee Administration
- Maintain referee databases including contact details, accreditation status, and availability.
- Track referee participation, game allocations, and development progression.
- Assist with onboarding new referees and maintaining registration records.
Payment & Compliance
- Process referee game payments or allowances in accordance with organisational policies.
- Ensure referees maintain required accreditation, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with documentation related to officiating policies and procedures.
Support for Development Programs
- Assist with the administration of referee training sessions, education programs, and workshops.
- Coordinate logistics for referee meetings, clinics, and development initiatives.
- Work with referee educators and assessors to support development pathways.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to manage schedules and work with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with scheduling systems, spreadsheets, or sports management software.
- Knowledge of basketball competitions and officiating structures (desirable).
