The Country Competitions Coordinator part-time (0.6 FTE) plays a key role in delivering high-quality competition experiences through the coordination and administration of the Junior Country Championships (JCC) and supporting a range of Basketball Victoria events across regional Victoria.
About Us
Basketball Victoria (BV) is the peak body for the sport of Basketball in Victoria. The broad objectives of BV are to provide for the advancement, encouragement, conduct, promotion and administration of Basketball in Victoria. We are a member driven governing body, providing a range of services, leagues and competitions for over 140 affiliated associations.
In addition to supporting our affiliated Basketball associations, BV delivers a number of participation programs making basketball Everybody’s Game, as well as player, coach and technical official development programs to encourage the development of socially desirable attitudes and values towards physical fitness, skill acquisition, and performance pathways.
Key responsibilities for the role - but not limited to:
Junior Country Championships (JCC)
- Coordinate venue tender processes and confirm venue allocations
- Oversee team and player registrations and eligibility
- Establish team rankings and develop competition fixtures
- Act as the primary liaison with affiliated associations
- Coordinate event merchandise, trophies, and awards
- Maintain and update JCC Rules of Operation
- Deliver end-to-end event operations, from planning through to post-event review
- Ensure all event operations comply with Child Safety requirements
Victorian Junior Basketball Leagues (VJBL - Country)
- Administer existing regional country leagues
- Manage team and participant registrations and eligibility
- Identify growth opportunities and support the development of new regional leagues
Role-Related Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal teams including Technical Officials, media, and events
- Support major Basketball Victoria events such as the National Junior Classic and Grand Final Nights
- Investigate future competition growth and participation needs
About you
You are a proactive and detail-oriented administrator who thrives in a fast-paced sporting environment. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships, and take pride in delivering well-run competitions.
Essential:
- Alignment with Basketball Victoria values and strong ethical standards
- Experience administering sporting leagues or competitions
- Strong organisational, time-management, and administrative skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence using computer systems and databases
- Creative thinking to support fan and community engagement
Desirable:
- Experience in fixturing or competition administration
- Stakeholder engagement experience within sport or community organisations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in sports management (or related field) and/or minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain)

This role is based at Wantirna South and requires travel across Victoria, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
