The IBA Pathways Coordinator is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational delivery, and performance management of Illawarra Basketball Association’s Junior and Senior Representative Programs.
This role provides end-to-end oversight of JPL, SJL, and Senior Waratah programs, ensuring alignment across all representative pathways from Prep4Rep through to Senior representation. The position drives the implementation of a unified IBA style of play, structured athlete and coach development frameworks, and ensures professional, compliant, and financially responsible program delivery.
The role requires a willingness and capacity to travel to competition rounds, tournaments and representative events as required. Attendance at games and events is critical to accurately conduct coach performance reviews, monitor program standards, and ensure alignment to the IBA Style of Play Framework.
The position plays a critical role in building a sustainable high-performance culture across the Association.
Key Responsibilities
1. Representative Program Leadership (JPL, SJL & Senior Waratah)
- Provide strategic oversight of all Junior (JPL & SJL) and Senior Waratah programs.
- Develop, implement and monitor a unified IBA Style of Play Framework across all representative teams.
- Conduct seasonal performance reviews and program analysis, including team results, development metrics and benchmarking.
- Attend competition rounds, tournaments and representative events to observe performance and ensure quality control.
- Ensure clear alignment and progression between Prep4Rep, Junior Representative, and Senior Representative pathways.
- Contribute to long-term representative program planning and continuous improvement initiatives
2. Player & Coach Development
- Design and implement structured athlete development frameworks aligned to Long Term Athlete Development principles.
- Oversee talent identification processes and progression pathways.
- Lead and coordinate coach development strategy across Junior and Senior programs.
- Conduct in-person coach observations at games and events to inform structured performance reviews.
- Implement formal performance review processes for all representative coaches.
- Support emerging coaches through mentoring, feedback and development planning.
3. Representative Administration (Junior & Senior)
- Oversee all representative registrations, eligibility, compliance and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate and ensure accurate record keeping, database management and documentation.
- Manage representative program budgets in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
- Maintain timely, professional and clear communication with players, parents and coaches.
- Ensure all representative policies, procedures and documentation are current and adhered to.
4. BNSW Delegate Responsibilities
- Act as IBA Delegate for SJL, JPL and Senior Waratah competitions.
- Attend required Basketball NSW meetings and forums.
- Ensure full compliance with Basketball NSW regulations, policies and reporting obligations.
- Provide updates and recommendations to the Executive General Manager following BNSW engagements.
5. Coach Selection & Education
- Coordinate and administer coach selection processes across Junior and Senior programs.
- Develop and maintain clear, transparent selection criteria aligned with IBA standards and values.
- Coordinate a minimum of two (2) annual coaching workshops and Continuing Professional Development opportunities.
- Ensure all coaches meet Basketball Australia accreditation requirements.
- Maintain a current register of coach qualifications and compliance.
6. Representative Operations
- Oversee operational logistics including uniforms, manager packs, towels and change room allocations.
- Manage day-to-day Junior Representative operations.
- Oversee Prep4Rep program delivery and ensure alignment with representative pathways.
- Coordinate off-site training venues, key management and venue cancellations.
- Ensure match day and training environments meet IBA presentation and operational standards.
- Travel to external venues as required to maintain visibility and operational oversight.
