About Hockey One

Hockey One League (H1) is Australia’s national, open-age elite hockey competition, showcasing the country’s best men’s and women’s athletes across seven founding clubs: Adelaide Fire, Brisbane Blaze, Canberra Chill, HC Melbourne, NSW Pride, Perth Thundersticks and Tassie Tigers. Hockey One is broadcast live and free-to-air in Australia via 7plus, with international coverage reaching audiences across the globe.

Operating with the highest level of integrity, the league is known for its commitment to gender equity - men’s and women’s teams compete on equal footing and share the same fixtures - and for delivering a fast, exciting match experience designed to engage fans in-venue and online.

About the Role

The Operations Manager works with, and under the direction of the H1EM, and in liaison with other internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful delivery of the H1L.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strong operational coordination skills, including scheduling, logistics, and competition administration.
  • Proven experience managing officials, umpires, volunteers, and key match day personnel.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to liaise across suppliers, partners, service providers, and internal teams.
  • High attention to detail with experience ensuring compliance with rules, regulations, manuals, and operational processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate travel, accreditation systems, apparel orders, and match day requirements.
  • Skilled in planning and delivering events, including launches, media activities, and finals series logistics.
  •  Ability to support marketing, communications, sponsor servicing, and digital content accuracy.
  • Financial acumen, including monitoring budgets, processing expenses, and flagging variances.
  • Strong administrative capability, including managing reports, appointments, judiciary processes, and meeting support.
  • Proactive, organised, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced sporting environment.

Remuneration

H1 will offer an industry competitive salary dependent upon the successful applicant's skills and experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of event and sport management best practice, including budget development, monitoring and reporting; supported by relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of three years’ experience in sports administration or major event delivery.
