About the role
As part of an integrated interdisciplinary team, the Performance Psychologist provides targeted, outcomes-focused psychological support to enhance athlete performance while promoting and safeguarding athlete wellbeing. The role works collaboratively within allocated sport programs to optimise athlete development and performance outcomes.
This is a part time (0.6FTE) position, the full time equivalent (FTE) annual salary range of $115,194 - $120,511 plus superannuation, which will be paid pro-rata for hours worked. The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2028 in line with the Olympic cycle.
This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you
You will bring to our team:
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of the demands of high-performance athletes and coaches.
- Experience providing performance psychology services in high performance sporting environments.
- Experience delivering specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention within elite sports programs and high-performance contexts.
- Experience working as a collaborative and embedded member of a multi-disciplinary team within a high-performance setting.
- Psychological formulation knowledge and skills – ability to bring together a range of information to make sense of a specific performance problem or challenge.
- Awareness of how to identify strengths and individual needs and then draw upon psychological theory and evidence to inform interventions.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence-based processes to enhance psychological functioning in high-performance contexts.
Essential Requirements
- Applied Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology
- A minimum of 3 years experience working in a range of performance contexts, including delivering psychological support to athletes in a high-performance setting
- Current registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Australian Psychological Society (APS) membership
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) Anti-doping Fundamentals and Annual update
- SIA (PBTR) Child Protection and Safeguarding
- Valid driver’s license
- Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain this prior to working with us
