The Opportunity

Work closely with the National Performance Director, VA National Coaches, and the Sport Science/Sport Medicine (SS/SM) Service Support Team to:

  • Lead, plan, and deliver training and competition programs that prepare the national Women’s teams to qualify for and perform at the Los Angeles 2028 (and Brisbane 2032) Olympic Games, FIVB World Championships, and Commonwealth Games, with the objective of achieving medal-winning performances.
  • Lead the planning and execution of preparation programs for the national Women’s teams across all international and national competitions.
  • Lead, plan, and deliver training and competition programs for individual athletes, building a foundation for future international success and the long-term development of athletes capable of winning Gold at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
  • Provide leadership in the planning and delivery of elite performance pathways for beach volleyball in Australia.

Key Responsibilities (drawn directly from the Position Description)

  • Lead the women’s high performance daily training environment and competition campaign planning, aligning athletes, coaches, and performance staff to deliver medal capable outcomes across the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 cycles, including priority events such as the FIVB World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, and Asian Championships.
  • Plan and deliver coaching programs for senior campaign athletes and identified developing athletes, ensuring individual and team plans build the technical, tactical, physical, and behavioural foundations required for sustained international progression, with a clear long-term pathway toward Brisbane 2032 podium potential.
  • Design and manage, with the National Performance Director and national coaching group, an athlete identification and recruitment approach that aligns with State pathways and institute partners, improving depth, conversion, and retention into the national women’s program.
  • Drive the effective use of performance analysis and scouting support by setting the standards for how insights are generated and applied, ensuring data, game trends, and objective match and training information inform learning design, training priorities, and competition decision making, including benchmarking and forward-looking performance expectations.
  • Support athlete sustainability by coordinating education, vocational, and social development inputs within the wellbeing led model, so athlete readiness and retention are strengthened alongside performance demands.
  • Set clear communication standards across athletes, staff, and stakeholders to support reliable program operations, high trust working relationships, and shared understanding of expectations, plans, and performance behaviours.
  • Work with high performance leadership and pathway coaches to create development opportunities for pathway athletes within national program settings, strengthening transition into senior women’s campaign environments and improving alignment across the delivery system.
  • Contribute to national coaching capability through agreed education activities and workshops, supporting consistent delivery expectations across the high-performance network, and maintain ongoing professional development aligned to contemporary international best practice.
  • Provide decision grade performance insights and reporting to high performance leadership, coaches, and relevant stakeholders, supporting timely plan adjustments and confident resourcing and campaign decisions.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across the Australian and international high-performance system, including federations, AIS and institute partners, State associations, and other stakeholders, to strengthen program delivery, alignment, and opportunity.
  • Represent Volleyball Australia professionally in Australia and internationally, and maintain strong, effective daily working relationships with national program staff and the Queensland Academy of Sport to ensure integrated, athlete centred support.
  • Role model and uphold a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, meeting legislative and policy requirements and reinforcing expected conduct across the program.
