AusCycling is the nation’s peak riding and cycling body, representing more than 5 million Australians who ride bikes. Formed in 2020 from 19 state, territory, and national bodies, AusCycling is responsible for programs, projects and initiatives that encompass BMX, Cyclo-cross, ESport Cycling, Track, Mountain Bike, Road, Para and recreational.

We help school kids learn to ride, we stage more than 500 events each year, we nurture clubs and create pathways, and we are responsible for the training, welfare, and performance of Australia’s Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth Games and World Championship athletes.

Position Purpose       

The Development Academy Manager | DH & EDR will drive the implementation of AusCycling’s pathway development academy programs for gravity athletes in mountain bike.

Working closely with the Performance and Clubs and Community teams, coaches and the gravity mountain bike community, the position will play a key role in supporting AusCycling’s athlete development agenda, support the development of gravity MTB coaches within the system and develop and strengthen our relationships with delivery partners to enhance pathways and performance outcomes.

Responsibilities         

Development Academies

  • Responsible for the implementation of AusCycling’s DH & EDR development academy programs.
  • Collaborate with other Development Academy Leads and colleagues from across sport to identify, document, and consistently implement best practice systems and programs that enhance athlete development.
  • Increase the uptake and engagement with AusCycling’s development pathways for DH & EDR
  • Work with AusCycling’s Integrity Manager to ensure developing athletes are aware of and adhering to the National Integrity Framework.
  • Support State/Territory Operations Managers with the delivery of State & Territory projects.
  • Attend National Development Camps for athletes where appropriate.

Events and Competition

  • Attend identified/prioritised competitions and events.

Communication and Key Relationships

  • Work with the media and comms team to build awareness of AusCycling’s Gravity MTB programs, policies, selection timelines and performance strategy amongst the community.
  • Establish strong, mutually beneficial working relationships with key stakeholders - athletes, coaches, suppliers, competition hosts, and venues.

Coach Development

  • Support the development of Gravity MTB coaches within the system and promote professional development opportunities for pathways coaches.
  • Contribute to Coach education resources as required.

Other

  • Contribute to Pathway strategy development and operational planning and budgets as required.
  • Contribute to AusBike and other participation initiatives content development as required.
  • Contribute to reports as required.
  • Other duties as directed to support the overall success of AusCycling.

Essential Requirements

  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Preferred qualification - Advanced Coach (MTB).
