The Club
Macquarie University Rugby Football Club (MURFC) is the oldest sporting club at Macquarie University. Established in 1967 and currently competing in the NSW Suburban Rugby Competition, in 2025 we fielded a 1st grade side in the Jeffery Cup, a Colts (U/21) side in the Radford Cup and a Women’s 10’s side in the Joy Johnson Cup.
As an affiliated club with Macquarie University, along with 15 other sporting clubs, we have a player base consisting primarily, but not limited to, currently enrolled university students.
The Position
MURFC is seeking committed and passionate coaches to join our club for the 2026 season. The club is advertising the following positions
- 1st Grade Coach
- Women’s 10’s Coach
This is a volunteer position and any reimbursement for incurred expenses must be approved in advance.
The Location
MURFC is based at the Macquarie University sporting fields, located adjacent to the main campus, with access to some of the best fields and facilities in the Suburban Rugby competition.
The Role
The right candidate will be tasked with working with the other coaches and committee to achieve the outcomes agreed upon at the start of the season, which may include, but are not limited to:
- Contribute to and cultivate a positive and safe culture of inclusion at the club
- Develop team and season strategies which can be incorporated into the broader coaching club strategy
- Deliver engaging and considered training plans through the season
- Collaboratively work with the selection committee to select teams on a weekly basis
- Attend 2 x 2hour training sessions on Tuesday & Thursday night(s) respectively (6:30 pm - 8:30 pm)
- Attend all preseason trainings and trial games
- Attend all regular season home and away games (Saturday 12:00 pm 5:00 pm) and finals
- Attending NSW Suburban Rugby Tribunals when required
