Volleyball Australia (VA) is the peak body for the administration of the sport of Volleyball in Australia. VA’s Mission is to lead, partner and support the growth in participation, performance and profile of the sport in Australia.

The Role

Volleyball Australia is seeking a National Program Manager to support the delivery and growth of volleyball participation nationwide. This role plays a key part in administering and supporting contemporary development programs and opportunities for coaches, officials, deliverers, volunteers and other contributors to the sport.

The successful applicant will be required to comply with all Volleyball Australia policies and procedures, including the National Integrity Framework, associated integrity policies and the Code of Conduct.

Location

ACT is the preferred location, however will consider applicants from across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager, Growth and Development, the National Program Manager supports the delivery of the national participation portfolio in line with the Volleyball Australia Strategic Plan and associated participation plans.

Key responsibilities include:

Participation Planning and Program Delivery

  • Manage delivery of the Participation Plan aligned to Volleyball Australia’s Strategy through to 2032.
  • Administer key participation programs and initiatives.
  • Establish and support delivery frameworks for Member States.
  • Identify priority areas for national participation delivery.

Play Volley National Program

  • Administer the national rollout of Play Volley programs.
  • Engage key stakeholders, including State Volleyball staff, deliverers and ASC contacts.
  • Support delivery across:
    • Play Volley Sporting Schools.
    • Play Volley in clubs.
    • Play Volley delivered through private providers.
  • Develop strategies and refine delivery models to grow Play Volley nationally.
  • Provide monthly reporting on participation growth metrics.

Club Resources and Education Support

  • Support the Education Manager in the development and delivery of club-focused resources aligned to the education framework, including:
    • Club development.
    • Volunteer retention.
    • Training and support.
    • We Care.

Sport Development and Participation Conference

  • Manage and deliver the annual Sport Development and Participation Conference for Member States.
  • Develop conference programs aligned to the VA Strategy.
  • Manage communications, administration and bookings for Member States, stakeholders and guest speakers.
  • Report on agreed outcomes to the General Manager, Growth and Development.

Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Deliver regular reporting on participation data, including:
    • Sporting Schools growth and retention.
    • Membership growth.
    • Referee engagement.
    • Club engagement.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Member States to support agreed national participation priorities through shared services and regular engagement.

Additional Requirements

  • Some domestic travel may be required.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the General Manager, Growth and Development and VA CEO.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in sports management and administration.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with Children.
  • Applicants must have experience in working with children.
  • Computer Literacy including MS Office Suite and Adobe Suite with an aptitude in learning other specific industry or commercial software.
  • Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals and groups in a way that engages and helps them to understand and retain the message.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and to move the team towards completion of goals.
  • Establishes good interpersonal relationships; makes people feel valued, appreciated and included.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
  • Experience working directly in national sport programs and communicating with a wide range of audiences including external stakeholders and partner organisations.
  • Background in education delivery.
  • Experience in website content management.
  • Knowledge of the structure and operations of Volleyball in Australia.
