The role of the Regional Umpire Zone Developer (Southwest Region) is to provide on the ground development opportunities, advice and feedback, and to deliver umpire accreditation sessions to Regional Associations within the respective Zone.
- Southwest Eagles Zone (Hockey Ballarat, Hockey Southwest, Hamilton Hockey Association, Hockey Geelong).
Principal duties are outlined below under Association Development, Association Accreditations and Resource Development. In addition, the expectation is that, if possible, the Regional Umpire Zone Developer will attend fortnightly Hockey Victoria staff meetings and part-take in any informal umpire development initiatives to improve the overall umpire practice.
Association Development
- Provide 3 face to face development sessions, per Association in your Zone, per year. Sessions to be delivered either during local competitions (weekends) or during junior club training (weeknights).
- Be present at HV Junior Country Championships and Junior State Championships and provide real time advice/feedback to Zone Umpires.
Association Accreditations
- Run 1 Umpire Lead Accreditation Course, per Association in your zone, per year.
- Run 1 Umpire Foundation Support Accreditation Course, per Association in your zone, per year.
- Run 1 Facilitator Accreditation Course, per Association in your zone, per year.
Resource Development
- Assist HV in the development and maintenance of the online Resources Hub for Regional Associations to access and use.
The Regional Umpire Zone Developer is a part-time (10.4 hours per week), paid position, with a $70,000 plus superannuation pro-rata salary. The position will also include a car that can be used for work travel purposes. Payments will be made fortnightly, in line with all other Hockey Victoria employees. Given the nature of the work, work hours will mainly be after traditional work hours (e.g. from 4:00pm weekdays, on weekends). A probation period of 3 months applies to this role.
