Remuneration: Band 6 salary from $104,133.36 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement

About the role

The Sport & Recreation Planning & Partnerships Officer role is responsible for the strategic planning and provision of sporting facilities, services and programs that meet the needs of Wyndham’s growing and diverse community. Working at a strategic level, planning, monitoring and evaluating Council’s key sport and recreation documents, you will help shape how Council plans for current and future participation in sport and active recreation.

In partnership with relevant State Sporting Associations, State and Federal Government departments, community service organisations and private entities, you will develop, monitor and evaluate strategic partnerships that advance sport and active recreation outcomes and support the vision of an Active Wyndham.

What your day will look like

  • Develop, monitor and evaluate sport and recreation strategies and policy’s/frameworks to respond to existing and emerging community needs.
  • Engage and manage internal and external stakeholders to support strategic planning and delivery outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and policies to inform continuous improvement and future planning.
  • Identify and secure external funding opportunities, including preparing grant applications and submissions.
  • Contribute to the planning, business case development and delivery of sport and recreation projects.
  • Identify, prioritise and develop partnerships with organisations, including peak sporting bodies, community service organisations and private entities to advance shared objectives to increase physical activity and participation across Wyndham.
  • Support sport and recreation facility activation through research into innovative activation models,
  • Establish and support effective governance, stakeholder engagement and team collaboration to achieve agreed outcomes.

What you will bring

  • A tertiary qualification (degree) in Recreation Planning, Management, Community Development or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans and policies, ideally within a local government or public sector context.
  • Experience working with sport and recreation clubs, associations and peak bodies.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to consult, collaborate and influence the community, sporting organisations and government partners.
  • Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to meet competing deadlines.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively and professionally within a diverse team environment.
