This is a rare and influential opportunity to lead the physical performance program across one of Australia’s most respected sporting environments.

Melbourne Vixens and Netball Victoria are seeking a credible Head of Physical Performance to lead the performance of our Melbourne Vixens athletes while shaping and aligning physical preparation across our high-performance pathway programs.

Working closely with the Vixens Head Coach and a multidisciplinary high-performance team, the role will engage with elite athletes, emerging talent and national partners to deliver athlete-centred, best practice programs, influencing performance from pathway to professional level.

About the role responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager - High Performance & Pathways, key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Design and delivery of a world class physical preparation program for Melbourne Vixens athletes
  • Overseeing physical performance programming within the Vixens Academy
  • Leading strength & conditioning, speed, power, conditioning, recovery and injury-prevention practices
  • Using testing, monitoring and GPS data to inform individual and team programming
  • Providing strategic leadership across NV pathway programs (U17, U19, Elevate, State Teams, First Nations programs and umpire pathways)
  • Ensuring alignment across Victorian and national high-performance systems through evidence-informed, athlete-centred practice
  • Leading, mentoring and developing physical performance staff and contractors
  • Contributing to talent profiling, education, research and innovation initiatives
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders 

What you will bring:

  • A degree (or higher) in Exercise/Sport Science, Human Movement or equivalent
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in high-performance environment
  • ASCA Professional Coach Accreditation
  • Proven experience working with elite and/or emerging athletes
  • Strong leadership, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • A passion for developing athletes across the performance pathway

Netball experience is highly desirable but not essential.
