About you
We are seeking a passionate and experienced HSEQ expert to provide strategic and operational guidance to our teams, ensuring compliance, fostering continuous improvement, and championing safe behaviours on and off site.
The ideal candidate will enjoy being hands on as well as working with senior leaders across corporate and football to instil a culture of safety excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement whilst providing on-the-ground support.
Your key responsibilities
- Review existing safety and risk management processes, developing a fit for purpose HSEQ framework to deliver safe, effective work practices, in line with changing business and legislative requirements.
- Lead and enhance the Dragon’s risk and compliance framework, ensuring robust systems and processes across all facilities and venues.
- Monitor and manage compliance with legislative, regulatory and operational obligations including WHS and NRL requirements.
- Conduct audits, maintain the Risk Register, identify trends and risks and implement initiatives that drive health and safety performance.
- Develop, prepare and deliver training, toolbox, information and coaching/awareness sessions to inform and upskill stakeholders at all levels of the business to support the delivery of health, safety, environmental and quality initiatives. This encompasses employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure comprehensive education on WHSE matters.
- Partner and support all managers to establish and execute sustainability programs such as waste management, water conservation etc to meet targets.
- Provide 'on the ground' support within the Club for specialised WHSE tasks, such as risk assessments and complex solutions identification. The approach should focus on enhancing the WHSE capability of staff and leadership teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments for games, events, tours and community activities.
- Ensure compliance with child protection legislation, Working with Children Checks, duty of care obligations and youth welfare standards.
- Manage contractor compliance and implement effective risk controls.
- Lead the operational readiness and launch of the Bruce Gordon Centre, ensuring a seamless and successful opening.
Your qualifications, skills and experience
- Minimum seven years’ experience in a similar role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- Certification in Lead Auditing (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- First Aid and Emergency Response Training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Australian WHS and environmental legislation and Codes.
- Analytical skills for incident investigation and risk assessment.
- Ability to influence and drive cultural transformation.
You must be legally entitled to work in Australia and have an ability to work outside of ordinary office hours (weekends, match days and events).
