Description

The Marketing and Events Coordinator supports both NSFA and Northern Tigers. The role lifts the profile of our competitions, programs and teams, builds stronger connections with players, parents, clubs, partners and the wider community, and helps drive participation and engagement.

The role plans and delivers key events across both organisations, including school cups, gala days and female football initiatives, and supports Northern Tigers communications and match day promotion through marketing, digital content and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing and communications:

  • Create clear, engaging content across NSFA and Northern Tigers channels, including websites, social media, email newsletters and member announcements
  • Promote competitions, programs, Tigers teams and community initiatives in a coordinated way
  • Keep parents, players and clubs informed with simple, timely information
  • Develop basic digital marketing material in Canva and Vision6
  • Maintain consistency of branding across both organisations
  • Track basic engagement metrics and share practical observations

Content creation:

  • Tell stories about our players, coaches, referees and volunteers across NSFA and Northern Tigers
  • Produce regular match related and community focused content
  • Coordinate photos, short videos or interviews to support content where needed
  • Work with coaches, clubs and staff to identify strong story opportunities

Event coordination:

  • Plan and support delivery of:
    • School competitions and gala days
    • Female football events
    • Northern Tigers match-day activations and community events
    • Presentation Days/Presidents Meetings & Dinners/AGMs
  • Coordinate logistics such as run sheets, bookings, vendors, equipment and pack-down
  • Work closely with competitions staff and Tigers staff where activities overlap
    Help ensure events are safe, welcoming and well organised

Stakeholder relationships:

Build positive relationships with:

  • Member clubs and schools
  • Northern Tigers teams and staff
  • Volunteers and match-day helpers
  • Support basic sponsorship servicing needs (branding, acknowledgements, event support)

General administration:

  • Support the broader office during busy periods
  • Assist with reasonable additional tasks aligned to the purpose of the role

Skills, experience and attributes

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience in marketing, communications or events
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Confidence producing social posts, flyers and email communications
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work with volunteers, schools and community groups
  • Willingness to work some evenings or weekends when Tigers games or events require it
  • Friendly, approachable communication style

Experience in sport or community organisations is highly valued but not essential. Relevant qualifications are welcome but not mandatory.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Growth in engagement across NSFA and Northern Tigers digital channels (followers, reach, interactions)
  • Consistent delivery of content across both brands during the season
  • Successful delivery of key events (school cups, gala days, female football events, Tigers activations) within agreed budgets and timelines
  • Positive feedback from clubs, schools, partners and internal staff following major events
  • Increase in attendance/participation at promoted programs and Tigers matches
  • Improved timeliness and clarity of communications to players, parents and clubs
  • Delivery of a simple annual communications and events calendar and adherence to it
  • Basic sponsorship servicing completed to agreed standards (logos, mentions, event presence)

  • Collaborate well with competitions staff and Tigers staff
  • Bring energy to events and match days while being organised behind the scenes
  • Understand the difference between elite content and community content, and value both
  • Are comfortable working some evenings and weekends when football requires it
  • Show initiative without needing direction for every small task
