About the Role
Part-time, parental Leave contract until January 2027
The primary purpose of this role is to engage positively as a coach in the delivery of the Athletic Performance Development Program. Further, the role will lead the relevant development of injury prevention, rehabilitation (as required), and medical support services across the Athletic Performance Development Program, from Year 7-12 inclusive of all sports.
Role Responsibilities
Development Coaching
- Provide coaching assistance and support to the BGS APD Team in delivering programs and facilitating training sessions (at the request of Head of Performance Development).
- Regularly liaise with Line Managers and Heads of Program to ensure program objective of developing a multi-sport athlete is being successfully attained.
- Design and implement strength-based programs in conjunction with the BGS Long-term Physical Development model.
- Liaise with colleagues and work collaboratively to improve programming and delivery across multiple physical domains.
- In instances lead flagship sport strength and conditioning services allocated by the Head of APD.
- Lead BGS swim squad strength and conditioning services and all items relative through communication with key stakeholders of the BGS swim club.
- Provide Matchday Support to Flagship and Championship Teams (as required), in liaison with Head of APD.
- Where required provide support and services to flagship holiday camps.
Leadership, Professional Administration and Community Engagement
- Provide the necessary documents and reporting processes of all diagnosed injuries of BGS Athletes Year 9-12. This includes through the assigned AMS.
- Onboarding of external stakeholders including but not limited to medical staff and allied health professionals supporting weekly triage processes.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders and external allied health services throughout the various stages of rehabilitation.
- Lead professional development sessions/ presentations regarding sport specific flagship scope of injury prevention.
- Weekly communication to sport directors, HPE, head of year, and other key stakeholders regarding student status or availability.
- Coordinate, communicate, and arrange any involvement of allied health professionals. Including but not limited to triage, treatment, and future possible tender processes.
- Participate in the design and/ or implementation of Parent Information Evening presentations.
Injury Rehabilitation - Delivery
- Design, implement, and oversee prescribed rehabilitation sessions, where required.
- Develop basic rehabilitation programs for most common injuries, in liaison with Head of APD and School Medical Professionals, that can be provided to BGS Students.
- Attend all Monday AM Triage sessions and associated reporting processes.
- Imbed rehabilitation specific sessions in the weekly gym timetable.
- Communicate and follow up any individualized student rehab plans.
Experience, Qualification and Skills
- Tertiary Qualifications in Exercise or Sport Science.
- Current ASCA Level 2
- Current Blue Card
- Proven expertise in the development and implementation of athlete rehabilitation programs across a multitude of injury modalities.
- Proven skills in effective communication with medical professionals across all disciplines.
- Proven expertise and experience in the design, and successful delivery, of field-based strength and conditioning sessions to prepare multi-sport athletes.
- Experience in tracking and documenting, as well as monitoring and amending, athlete injury and return-to-play scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills with parents, students and colleagues across a range of environments.
- Ability to work within a team, as well as the ability to work independently.
