We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Health and Fitness Instructor to join our team at Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC).
In this role, you'll motivate and support members in achieving their helath & fitness goals while fostering a vibrant and inclusive community environment. This is a dynamic opportunity to lead group fitness sessions, provide tailored health & fitness advice, and deliver outstanding customer service.
Salary Package: Competitive salary plus super
Appointment type: Part-time (20 hours per week), ongoing role
The Role
The Health & Fitness Instructor role requires you to be customer focused at all times and use your industry expertise and training to provide exceptional service to our members in a professional and timely manner.
Duties
- Drive engagement by using member retention tools and providing exceptional customer service.
- Deliver premium group training sessions, gym inductions, provide members with advice, and enforce gym etiquette.
- Perform cleaning duties as required, report maintenance issues, and complete administration tasks via CRM software.
- Assist with member enquiries and escalate complaints where necessary.
- Shift pattern: Monday 10:00 am-15:00 pm, Tuesday 17:15-22:15, Thursday 17:15-22:15, and Saturday 05:30-10:30

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) is a multi-purpose venue. Located at Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde, our facility includes a heated indoor and outdoor pool, fully equipped health club, group fitness classes, squash courts, multi-purpose sports halls, gymnastics hall and 4 professional playing fields that cater for various university and community-based programs.

Essential Selection Criteria
- Certificate IV in Fitness or recognised tertiary education equivalent.
- Exercise Professional Registration.
- Demonstrated experience as a Fitness Instructor with a proven ability for high-level exercise prescription and small group training.
- Ability to proactively engage with a diverse member base, providing assistance and advice on exercise technique and use of fitness equipment.
- Monitor health club activities and areas to ensure gym etiquette is being maintained, answering queries and managing complaints to resolution.
- Excellent knowledge of current and emerging fitness industry trends, and of health and safety principles and procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Additional accreditation in specialised programming/training.
Note: This role requires a Working with Children Check and a current First Aid & CPR. Standard work hours will also vary to include weekend and evening work to meet the needs of the business.
