To plan and deliver high-quality coaching, player development and matchday operations for assigned FQ Academy and ASP teams, aligned with Virginia United FC’s football philosophy, Football Queensland standards and the club’s child safety and member protection framework.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver structured training sessions that align with the club’s game model and the FQ Academy framework.
Lead the team on matchdays, including pre-match preparation, in-game coaching and post-match review.
Contribute to individual player development plans and formal review points across the season.
Assist with talent identification, selection decisions and squad balance in consultation with the Head of High Performance and technical staff.
Communication & culture
Build positive relationships with players and parents, providing clear, constructive feedback.
Model and reinforce club values, codes of conduct and expectations on and off the field.
Contribute to a safe, inclusive and performance-focused environment across all Academy age groups.
Operations
Maintain accurate records of attendance, sessions and fixtures for invoicing, program reporting and compliance.
Comply with all VUFC and FQ policies, including child safety, member protection, health and safety and social media guidelines.
Attend required coach education workshops, meetings and club events as directed.
Skills, experience and qualifications
Essential
Minimum FA/FQ C Diploma (or AFC/UEFA C or recognised equivalent international coaching licence).
Demonstrated experience coaching youth players in a structured club or academy environment.
Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and commitment to best-practice child safety standards.
Strong session planning, organisation and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with players, parents, staff and FQ representatives.
Desirable
Experience in FQ Academy, NPL Youth or similar pathway programs.
Familiarity with Football Queensland and Football Australia talent pathways and competition structures.
Experience mentoring or supporting assistant coaches.
