JOB TITLE: Participation Development Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Marketing & Operations Manager
DIRECT REPORTS:
LOCATION: Blacktown
STATUS: Part-time (25 hrs p/w)
REMUNERATION: The final salary and package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Job Summary
The Participation Development Coordinator will play a crucial role in expanding and enhancing our basketball programs, focusing on grassroots development, community engagement, and talent identification. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion for basketball, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Program Delivery & Development
- Plan, deliver, and continually improve all grassroots development programs, including:
- Aussie Hoops
- Sporting Schools programs
- School Holiday Camps & Clinics
- Come & Try sessions
- Introductory skills programs and pre-season sessions
- Ensure programs are delivered to a high standard, consistently, and with strong participant experience.
- Align program delivery with CBBA’s participation targets, calendar, and operational requirements.
- Ensure programs run efficiently, are well-prepared, and use CBBA equipment and resources responsibly.
2. Participation Pathway Management
- Oversee the movement of participants through CBBA’s pathway from grassroots > domestic competitions > representative development.
- Work with the Competitions Coordinator to transition beginner players into age-appropriate domestic teams.
- Provide fair and justified distribution of players across CBBA domestic clubs.
- Monitor and report participation numbers at each stage of the pathway.
- Identify developing athletes and recommend them for targeted development opportunities (e.g., squad programs, HP development).
3. Schools & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with:
- Primary and high schools
- Community organisations
- Council-based programs
- Local clubs
- Coordinate and deliver school programs, including Sporting Schools bookings, logistics, curriculum, and session plans.
- Engage new schools and community groups to drive program expansion.
4. Workforce Coordination (Coaches & Casual Deliverers)
- Schedule Learn to Play Coaches and casual deliverers for programs efficiently and within budget.
- Provide on-court coaching supervision, mentoring, and development feedback for LTP coaches.
- Support coaches’ progression along CBBA’s internal coaching pathway.
- Ensure all staff have current WWCC, certifications, and meet CBBA standards.
5. Reporting, Data & Administration
- Maintain accurate participation data across all programs (Aussie Hoops, schools, clinics, pathways).
- Track and report weekly and monthly participation KPIs to the Marketing/Operations Manager.
- Provide pathway reporting showing participant movement from entry programs into other CBBA offerings.
- Maintain program registers, attendance, and coach allocations.
- Assist with Jotform, Refbook, and Basketball Connect data relevant to development programs.
- Ensure budgeting considerations (coach hours, program costs, invoicing needs) are tracked and communicated.
6. Event & Inclusion Program Support
- Assist in delivery of targeted participation programs including:
- I Am A Girl
- Our Mob Indigenous basketball programs
- Inclusive and disability-friendly participation initiatives
- Support promotional and community events aimed at increasing participation across diverse groups.
7. Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Marketing, Communications & Operations Manager (Denise)
- Competitions Coordinator
- Representative Coordinator
- Administrative Assistant
- Ensure program changes, schedules, and updates are communicated across departments.
- Support the production of marketing material by providing dates, program details, and participant numbers.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sports development, coaching, or a related role.
- Minimum: Basketball NSW Association Coaching Accreditation (formally known as level 2).
- Strong knowledge of basketball, including coaching principles and player development.
- Strong administration, organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- First Aid and CPR qualifications.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of basketball rules, regulations, and competition structures.
- Experience working with coaches and volunteers.
- Experience in sports administration, event management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial tracking.
