Purpose
The Marketing Manager - Super Rugby Products leads the delivery of marketing and fan-engagement campaigns across Rugby Australia’s domestic and trans-Tasman competitions, including Super Rugby Pacific, Super Rugby Women’s, Super Rugby AU, U19s, and U16s.
This role plays a key part in growing audiences, driving attendance and engagement, and ensuring brand consistency across the Super Rugby ecosystem. Working closely with the Super Rugby Pacific Office, New Zealand Rugby (NZR), Australian and New Zealand clubs, and broadcast partners Nine and Stan Sport, the position delivers integrated campaigns that showcase the competitions and bring fans closer to the game.
The role manages one Designer and multiple agency partners, collaborating across the Fan Growth department to ensure every campaign is creative, data-led, and commercially effective.
Key Accountabilities
1. Campaign Planning and Delivery
- Lead the planning and delivery of marketing campaigns across Super Rugby Pacific, Super Rugby Women’s, Super Rugby AU, U19s, and U16s.
- Oversee campaign execution across paid, owned, and earned channels, ensuring activity aligns with Rugby Australia’s fan growth and commercial objectives.
- Manage external creative and media agencies to ensure high-quality campaign development, delivery, and reporting.
- Collaborate with the Super Rugby Pacific Office, NZR, and clubs to align messaging, schedules, and campaign objectives.
- Manage campaign budgets, timelines, and approvals, ensuring effective use of resources and strong return on investment.
2. Brand and Creative Alignment
- Champion the Super Rugby brand framework across all products and clubs in Australia and New Zealand.
- Work closely with the Designer to brief, review, and deliver campaign assets across digital, social, and matchday channels.
- Keep campaigns culturally and creatively relevant by staying across trends in sport, entertainment, and fan engagement.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the primary competition marketing contact across all Super Rugby products.
- Partner with broadcast partners (Nine and Stan Sport) to coordinate marketing schedules, campaign integration, and content opportunities.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with agencies, broadcasters, and clubs to deliver cohesive, high-impact marketing activity.
4. Insights and Performance
- Track and analyse campaign performance across media, digital, and attendance channels.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders, partners, and the Super Rugby Pacific Office.
- Use data insights to refine campaign strategy, creative, and media investment.
- Contribute to a test-and-learn culture that drives continuous improvement and efficiency across all marketing activity.
5. Leadership and Teamwork
- Manage and mentor one Designer, ensuring high-quality creative output and balanced workloads.
- Collaborate across the Fan Growth department to align marketing initiatives across national teams, competitions, and clubs.
- Support internal planning sessions, reviews, and presentations with well-prepared materials and insights.
- Bring initiative, attention to detail, and accountability to every project, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in marketing, ideally within sport, entertainment, or major events.
- Proven experience managing multi-stakeholder and multi-market campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing agency partners across creative, media, and production.
- Strong organisational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with confidence working across multiple organisations and geographies.
- Understanding of brand management, creative development, and campaign reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Planner, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience with tools such as Campaign Monitor, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, and Looker Studio.
