The GIANTS’ AFL and AFL Women’s teams are based at the club’s elite training and administration facility in Sydney Olympic Park, with GIANTS Netball based adjacent at Netball Central.

Position Purpose
We have a new opportunity available as a full-time Assistant Coach in our AFLW program. They will contribute to supporting our Head Coach, developing and executing a strategic football program and game plan capable of playing regular finals football and winning Premierships. The role will oversee a dedicated line for the season (forwards/midfield/backs), with the Assistant Coach responsible for the identification and delivery of key education and feedback to the group. The Assistant Coach will work as a key member of the broader coaching group to build an elite coaching program that ensures ongoing success and engagement of our AFLW players. The Assistant Coach will manage, deliver (as required) and be present at all club training sessions and fixtured home away AFLW matches.
This role will also act as the Head of Development, managing and implementing the on-field development program with assistance from Development Coaches. The position may also fulfill public media and internal stakeholder relations, delivering on our key purpose and values as required. The role will have opportunities to lead the delivery of the training program and work closely with the AFLW List Management team to help identify, interview, and select talent.
Roles and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the AFLW Senior Coach, deliver a game plan to consistently make and win finals matches, with the aim of delivering a Premiership.
- Responsibility to devise and provide training sessions and drills consistent with the game plan, ensuring clear communication and collaboration with all key staff.
- Responsibility to lead a line (forwards/midfield/back) to educate, develop and provide ongoing feedback to those players.
- Conduct reviews with players on both an individual and group basis.
- Attend all formal AFLW training sessions across pre-season and in-season.
- Travel for AFLW practice matches, home and away season matches and finals.
- Manage and implement the development program for the club, formalising the curriculum, reporting structure and managing the Development Coach group.
- Continue to develop skills in the use of Sportscode, Keynote/PowerPoint and presentation
ideas. - Assist the List Management team in talent identification.
- Support the club’s development program.
- Build spirit, confidence and morale across both playing and staff group in conjunction with the clubs and team’s values.
- Attend all relevant club functions, sponsor events and staff meetings.
