About the Role
Newington College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Casual Table Tennis Coach to join our coaching team for the remainder of the 2025-26 Summer Season and for the 2026-27 Summer Season.
Working in conjunction with the Director of Table Tennis, the successful applicant will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the College’s Table Tennis Program for students in Years 8–12.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for developing players of all ages and abilities in a supportive and high-performance environment.
About the position:
Working in conjunction with the Director of Table Tennis, the successful applicant will play an integral role in the continued development of the Table Tennis Program at Newington College, catering to students in Years 8-12.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, tactical awareness, and strategic understanding of the game, and be able to deliver high-quality coaching sessions that engage and challenge students of all ages, abilities, and experience levels.
This is a casual position requiring both weekday and weekend work, averaging 4-10 hours per week, including Saturday fixtures. The Table Tennis program operates during school term time only.
The successful applicant will commence in late January 2026, with the summer season running through Term 1 (January-March) and resuming in late Term 3 (August) before the 2026–27 season official starts in Term 4 2026 and Term 1 2027.
Roles and Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Director of Table Tennis, the successful applicant will:
- Develop and enhance the Table Tennis Program at Newington College for students across all ages and abilities, including both Competition and Non-Competition teams.
- Deliver high-quality, structured, and engaging coaching sessions that balance fun, challenge, and skill progression.
- Plan and implement training activities focused on technical development, tactical understanding, and match-play strategy.
- Liaise regularly with the Director of Table Tennis regarding program direction, player development, and fixture coordination.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of coaching materials, including training exercises, drills, and player resources.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress updates to parents where appropriate.
- Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents, and staff.
- Display flexibility, adaptability, and initiative in managing coaching and administrative responsibilities.
- Undertake additional duties as required by the Director of Table Tennis.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience coaching Table Tennis at school, club, or representative level.
- Table Tennis Australia Accreditation or Equivalent
- Strong technical and tactical knowledge of the sport.
- Working with children check
- First Aid accreditation
- Work effectively as a member of an enthusiastic team
